TrimmingsAndLace For MaxFashions : Florals At Degree Nine

Shot By - HimShootz

With their hothouse hues and a magnitude of prints, MaxFashions has always been among my favourite stores. To picking up a complete outfit or adding elements as basic as a crisp white shirt to complete a look, Max always stands up to those fashion needs without burning a hole in your pocket. More often that not, we all attempt to create a utilitarian wardrobe that consists of pieces which we can wear everyday and include them in our day to day routine. I have always advocated in being money-wise when it comes to this and Max as a brand truly resonates this ideology, albeit stylishly. Earlier this week, I was invited to the Max stores for a preview of their Fall/Winter'14 collection. The collection is buzzing with bright colours and some interesting kitsch and geometric prints in knits, pullovers, jackets and coats. This being so ideal for the dull, foggy, no-sun days. I absolutely loved the floral and baroque print sweatshirts from the collection. One can easily mix them with prints or wear them with a basic pair of jeans, to let them hold their own and make a statement.

What caught my eye, however, among the panorama of prints and colours, was this dainty floral number. Less feminine than the summer floral bunch, sporting florals in winters always is a perspective to brighter, sunnier days (although, shooting at 9 degrees doesn't leave much space for thoughts like these). I picked up this number also to experiment with a certain amount of luxe and edginess that is usually associated with winter florals. Instead of jewellery, I accessorized with a tie to add a dash of colour and another layer in terms of styling. As I wasn't attempting to present an androgynous look, I balanced the effect with a pair of very vintage and à la french brooches.

This is a very simple and an easy look which can be worn in a multiple ways. You can opt to wear the dress on its own or layer it like I have. Instead of greys and blacks you can also add a bright pink blazer to the dress. Skip the stockings or add colour. Swap the boots for pumps or wedges. Belt the dress to structure your look. Add a faux collar or wear a collar necklace. The options are endless. Isn't that true for dressing anyway?

Happiness In All Small Things : Oxblood and Cobalt

Wishing all the readers a Merry Christmas. Lots of love, regard and warmest wishes to each one of you.

Yayyee...you see me! The best thing about fashion is that it helps you fall in love with the latest and re-visited trends, patterns and colors every season. And if by now you haven't embraced burgundy (distant cousin : maroon, christened : oxblood) in its complete royalty and luxe, you are living in the past my friend. Ever since the Fall/Winter runways, magazine issues, journals and the blogosphere declared oxblood as THE color, I have been stocking up on the same, getting together the pieces I own to adorn this shade to its fullest. I was stuck between a one.color.tone look and contrasts and if you have been following me long enough, the pick didn't surprise for sure. I wore this oxblood kurta with delicate Kashmiri embroidery tucked into my forever love cobalt and voila! Plus, what ideal way to make room for self cheer on a shuddering winter morning than wearing color. Happiness, as they say, indeed lies in all small things.

'WORKING IT OUT'

The warmest hello to all my lovely readers!!

I have been so MIA all this while...blame it on my 'job' cells which are running very active these days :p thanks to a very interesting project that is going on with Channel V. So I have been writing a lot of reviews / editing responses and blah..and that did leave me with time enough to simply upload my outfit pictures, without talking in length about them, but ya then I chose to be a little wiser and consider QUALITY over QUANTITY.

Off late I am seeing or rather feeling a 'seasonal' change in me towards many things in life. I mean these are things I always had a preference for but they are suddenly assuming the 'top picks' in my brain order.
In no particular order, I enlist a few such things that are finding a prominent place in my palette as I go along showing you a very basic yet strong (in terms of contrast) outfit, I wore this week!

1. ZARA has always been one of my favourite brands. However, these days I am having a ZARA fetish as I look for all things ZARA.
2. I am drifting towards being experimental when it comes to my outfits. I am moving beyond the usual patterns and combination's and even accessories that I used to wear. This in entirely credited to the wonderful fashion blogs I come across.
3. I am also liking to dress Boho kinds. You will find that a lot in my upcoming posts.
4. I am so enjoying styling and giving fashion tips to all my friends and even family members. Its good to know that your opinion is respected and more so ACCEPTED :D

5. Maybe its that time of the year when all the anticipated movies hit the screens or something, but I am turning into a movie buff. I wont say I have seen all the latest movies but that doesn't shift focus from the fact that I am wanting to see all the latest ones!
6. Usually boring when it came to holidays, these days I cannot stop dreaming of a perfect holiday :(
7. I am so high on planning surprises these days..and those can be for just about anyone :p Can't wait to stand up and scream the perfect "SSSSUUUURRRRPPPPRRRRIIIIZZZZEEEE!"
8. I am suddenly digging onto eating more of fish these days. Trust me it does wonders to your skin and hair :)

9. I so wanna try owning and wearing an all out sequin dress in gold (Read Serena in the very first episode of Gossip girl!!).
10. Having been to Delhi a million times, I so wanna explore it all the more now. Blame it on the battery on movies that are showing Delhi in such a pleasant way.
11. I am learning a lot bout Formula Racing these days. India hosts its first ever international Grand Prix which I shall proudly be attending..so I am doing my bit in learning what the sport really is.
12. Not a make-up person AT ALL, I am beginning to know of the kind of products available on the shelf and also keen on trying some of them.

This brings me to show you a glimpse of my recent 'make-up' (its really a basic lip gloss (s), don't know if that qualifies to be called as make-up :p) pick which so aptly matches with my outfit:

My hot Pink and Orange outfit includes:

T-Shirt: ZARA
Tank (worn underneath): Thrifted
Trousers: Vibe
Neck-piece: Splash (Dubai)
Bangle: Thrifted
Watch: Kenneth Cole
Flats: Thrifted (Dubai)
On my nails: Revlon 404 Siren
Gloss: GAP

"Little Miss Mis-Match"

Hello my darling people..How is the week passing by? Well as for me, I am already longing for the weekend to catch up on my lost sleep..
For no apparent reason, I have decided to make this post a quickie (the reason is perhaps my thought machine is in slumber). But I have always had a little doubt that whether the little-too-much I end up talking in my posts, really interests you?
Wowaaa so here's your question uptill my next post, Do you enjoy reading what I write? If not, where do you think I faulter? (I am a little faint hearted, so please be kind with the criticism :p but I respect all views and opinions).
The outfit for this post is a concoction of prints and textures, something I have never done before. It was nowhere a conscious effort to put together something like this, rather it was 'One Of Those Many Days' when my wardrobe too is in slumber :)

Since, this was my first attempt at mixing prints and textures, I sobered the look with a plain pencil skirt, nude pumps and minimal accessories.

Sorry for the pictures. These are cell phone clicks :(
Wearing:
Pencil skirt and scarf: Thrifted
Icy Blue Lace wrap and Pearl drop neckpiece: Gifted
Silk and Lace spagetti blouse (worn underneath): Local boutique in Chandigarh
Nude Pumps and bracelets: Aldo

Like many a times, I got a Gossip Girl imagery when I wore this outfit. I love how Blair wears prints in the commencing episode of Season 4 - Belles du jour. Check it out :)

I hope you enjoyed my post :):)
P.S I am so loving the Icy Blue colour this season. Hoping to wear it in a lot many outfits :D

"And Who Am I?"

"And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell. You know you love me. XOXO, Gossip Girl."

Hello Lovelies!!

So, isn't the very opening of this post reminiscent of what this post is gonna be all about? Well you guessed it right...its GOSSIP GIRL!!

I promise not to tell you in-depth about what the show is (which you probably do know!!) or how much every girl world over raves over the fashion set-up of the show or dreams to get a chance to live that life once so as to be able to wear all that wonderful stuff. I certainly am one of those and the reason this post is about Gossip Girl is because I just can't be done watching a back-to-back run of its episodes :p (EVER!!)

The entire theme of the show is based on something we all love and is very much a part of our lives i.e. BLOGGING. The show is narrated by an omniscient yet unseen blogger who digs into the scandalous and webbed lives of the Manhattan elite. Moreover, the show stars the 'FASHION IT' GIRLS Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen and Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf. We know that already..don't we??
I certainly believe that this is the power of art, in this case writing (as Gossip Girl is based on a book titled the same written by Cecily von Ziegesar) as well as cinema/filming. Art has the power of conceiving a thought process, giving it a defined shape and character and infusing it into our minds, till the very gap between fiction and reality vanishes. There comes that sublime state where you start believing the magic world of Harry Potter or feeling the pain when Blair sheds a tear in isolation.

Coming over to another aspect of my blog now and that is my outfits :) If you love clothes as much as I do, you would agree with me, that sometimes your clothes talk to you :) Say, I proved I swear by fiction :p
So, for some time now I have been ideating wearing basic shorts with formal/semi-formal blouses in Chiffon, Georgette, Lace and Crepe. I have attempted to do the same with the following outfit:

I wore a Georgette floral print shirt (worn here) with basic black shorts. I felt that the floral shirt imparts a semi-formal look to the entire outfit (because of the fabric) hence I accessorized the look by wearing a pearl necklace and cocktail ring (also worn here). I also wore a multi-coloured cuff (worn here) and nude bracelets.

In order to balance the formal setting of the shirt and the accessories with the comfort shorts are meant to impart, I paired the outfit with simple ballerina's and a black hobo.

Wearing:

Georgette floral shirt: Local boutique in Dubai
Black shorts and Ballerina's: Thrifted from Delhi
Bag: Vincii
Bracelets and Cocktail Ring: Thrifted from Australia
Cuff: Forever 21
On my nails: Revlon 404 Siren

I leave you all with a few memorable quotes from Gossip Girl :):)

1. " Whoever said that money doesn't buy happiness didn't know where to shop."
                                                                  -Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf
2. "Well I'm sorry I'm not who you thought I was, but what's happened is in the past, and all I can do is try to change. If you can't accept that, then you're not who I thought you were."
-Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen
3. "You don't know a good thing until it's gone. And found something else."
                   -Kristen Bell as Gossip Girl
4. "Usually I have a "never say never" policy, but for you I'll make an exception."
-Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf
5. "'m not anyone, I'm me."
-Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf

Neon Rush - Take 2

A big big big hello my dear followers :) How are things going on for all of you?

I am choosing to make this post a FEEDBACK POST which makes me wait with bated breath for your responses. I request your feedback on two things:

1. My outfit for this post - believe you me I am a lot jittery about it.
2. Since now I am a two month old blogger, how would you describe my style? Voting time...
(You can vote by following the widget on the right bottom)

Coming over to my outfit for the day. If you guys remember my Neon Inspiration this very post also stems from the same. I have worn this look a couple of times before and I am finally sharing the same with you guys. I have to admit that I took on this look from India's answer to Blake Lively a.k.a Sonam Kapoor. No matter how much she is pushed for trying to be all reel Serena and real Blake Lively...I do think that the lass herself does have a good sense of style!!

The Style I talk about is - HIGH WAIST PANTS!!
Here's how I wear this super comfortable look in Neon:

So you remember my neon tank from Promod. I wore the same with these high waist pants bought from a local store in Chandigarh. My mother was generous enough to trust me with her Louis Vuitton tote :)
The accessories:

I accessorized the look by wearing my leaf pendant chain from Forever 21. I also belted the pants with a metallic flexi belt in gold plus I wore my mom's dress watch and bracelet set in gold and rubies :) On my feet I wear these leopard printed loafers from Atmosphere!!

I have for you the high waist pants look as worn by Blake Lively and Sonam Kapoor!! I guess we all can contemplate as to who inspires whom :*

Isn't Sonam Kapoor's Ferragamo tote in Pic 1 and Blake Lively's pumps to die for??

From the archives - Winter hues - Red and Blue

Hey guys..I guess I would be archiving a few more of my looks of Winter 2011. Well winter in not at all of all greys, navy blues and blacks. Infact winter gives us chances to venture out and play with different hues be that bright colours or the subtle ones. Agreed that the bright ones are to be kept for the springs, but don't we cheer up when we adorn them on a foggy morning?
Well my first look is Ohhhh - so Blair Waldorf inspired!! Take a look:

The Winters characterized by the warm sun and accompanied by the chilly breeze demanded that i wear layers...Red is my solid contrast with black..and i wore a leopard print wrap underneath just to add sum fun to the solid block of colours..catch my red ballerina flats playing peek-a-boo..:)

Incase, you still havnt figured out as to why this look was a Blair Waldorf inspired, I shall be obliged to answer. This quarter sleeved red blazer has been my best buy this season and I was lucky to finally find it at Forever 21 after admiring this style in many Gossip Girl episodes (Read BW). Plus I chose to wear it with a head band so really made me feel so Blair :):)

The second look that I have included in this post, is a simple one. The winter greys and blacks have been poped up with ELECTRIC BLUE!! Incase you wondering as to why electric blue has been put in capitals is cause its my all time favourite colour. I can safely say I am obssessed with it!!

This black top is my multi purpose thing and its minimal sequin detail compensates for no accessories. These flats ares super comfortable and they have this grey-blue leopard printed satin scarf on top wic makes them kinda cute :):) The fun part is that the grey sleeveless cardigan that I wear is my Dad's. I love to wear his clothes especially during winters..its fun and for no apparent reason they are super cosy :)

The Pinks You Cannot Miss

How To Layer Like A New Yorker

So,obviously this cardigan was loose on me, so i belted it up and pleated it from the back, like this :

And Voillaaaaaa!!
