TrimmingsAndLace For Chumbak : That World Of Colour

For any artist, I believe, eclecticism is a challenging side of the curve to be at. Your art must thrive in its exclusiveness but at the same time must resonate with the ideologies of your audience at large. For any artist to establish this reasoning as his identity is surely a feat. But to diversify and divulge and reinvent and yet remain grounded to the aesthetics is a sign of greatness. For me the husband-wife duo, the curators, the visionaries and the artists at Chumbak fit this definition like no other. Chumbak’s entrepreneurial journey that started five years ago has always been an inspiration to me. Mainly because, it isn’t any rags to riches story that fits the texts of a case study but a narration of how far your dreams and your belief in them can take you. It is a story of what passions are made of and how sometimes it’s all about that one plunge.

The same came this October when Chumbak ventured into the apparel segment with the launch of Collection One. Collection One is your entree into Chumbak’s world of design, colour and print. Not to miss, the quintessential dose of insanity that is associated with Chumbak. So expect a whole new take on space, ocean, Pixel Art and food, all manifested into a fashion line, that has been designed to start conversations that never end and even when they do they end in smiles.

Unlike most of my posts, I didn’t shoot this look with a prior brief or perspective in mind. My only agenda was to have fun at the shoot and celebrate the genre of outfits that I haven’t really worn before. The designs and prints have an inherent playfulness to them, which automatically gets infused into you. And that is pretty much what happened to me during the shoot. So there were twirls and pouts, jumps and misses, hair flips and virtual kisses, ankle twists and laughs and a leap into this new sea of fashion.

TrimmingsAndLace For Vajor : Bringing It Together

 photo _MG_8855.jpg photo _MG_8793.jpg photo _MG_8685.jpg photo _MG_8815.jpg photo _MG_8828.jpg photo _MG_8695.jpg photo _MG_8799.jpg photo _MG_8735.jpg

Among the many moments in life, when adrenaline rush thrives and the monotony of life comprises itself in a time frame ever so characteristic and dynamic, is the "festive season". As fashion enthusiasts we know there are seasons and there are trends, but nothing beats that surreal feeling when there is a new trend in the shape of a new day, each day. From much awaited get-togethers with family to endless conversations till the wee hours of the morning. From card parties with friends to all those exciting food menus. From the absolutely necessary shopping trips to planning for all the upcoming shaadis. The festive season is a bountiful of moments and occasions and definitely calls for special outfits for each. So as you chalk out your schedules, your dressing woes rest with the amazing fashion house that Vajor is. I've associated with team Vajor to curate for you guys three looks, from the The Great Festive Collection and their Exclusive Limited Edition, which can be styled in multiple ways and can be taken from day to night with minimal effort. I am thrilled and super excited to bring these to you.

Look 1 - My endeavour while creating this look was to personify how I dress-up during this season. Though the inclination remains to adorn Indian, the festive season sets the perfect backdrop to try more contemporary silhouettes. For my first look, I styled this modish version of the Indian Kurta. I absolutely love the print on it and I feel it is a statement in its own right. To complement the same, I added a bindi in a strong mustard to bring all the colours together and to reflect a contrast in Indian and contemporary tones. For me this outfit is a reflection of the onset of the festivities, a calm and composed start for all the extravagance that follows this season. I recommend this outfit for the day when you are attending guests, having luncheons or for pujas. For the night, I would like to style this outfit with my favourite pair of stilettos, statement earrings and deck up my hair with some marigold or jasmine flowers.

TrimmingsAndLace For Vajor : Building The Empire

My second look (first, in case you missed) featuring the work-wear collection by Vajor, is a tribute to all you corporate, power women who often feel contained in the silhouette of shirts and trousers and the perceived world of monotones. The latest corporate collection at Vajor, covers this zone albeit very fashionably. From gorgeous pencil skirts to dresses, from subtly embellished peplum tops to as-good-as tailored trousers, this collection is bound to transform all the mundaneness to corporate chic-ness. Many of you might have concerns with wearing body-con figurations to their corporate workplace. I have repeatedly vouched for Vajor's understanding and quality when it comes to this. Their fabrics and cuts are extremely superior and beautifully shape enhancing. So if you are worried about any underlines or your natural shape in general, I bet this collection is definite to make you love your curves like never before. I kept this look very minimalistic and sleek. To avoid any lure to a complete black and white look, I added a subtle contrast by way of these reading glasses and these delicate stud earrings.

Among the many valuable lessons my blogging career has taught me so far, the one I consider as the most vital - is to not forget the start. The start of a dream, the start of a passion and the start of its journey. And this is what makes any project that I work on as aesthetically relevant. For me any collaboration doesn't stop at cohesion in style ideologies but at the spark and belief in the dreams, the ones with which I started and the ones with which I wake up each day.

I fell in love with Pallavi's work the very day I came across it on Instagram - (@meraki_by_pallavikandoi). For me her work is a reflection of fluidity in technique and simplicity in heritage. From vibrant tie and dyes to delicate marble prints, Meraki curates pieces that are simple yet flattering in their silhouette. Further, you have an option to completely customize your piece depending upon your style and colour preferences.

The Order of Unusual Pairings

3 Things That Will Transition Any Summer Look To Fall

In a reflex, I am drawn towards anything blue. But for the feature, I chose this flamboyant red tie and dye maxi dress. It is always rewarding to style contemporary cuts with traditional jewellery, which is why I opted for these Patiala-sahara earrings which also rendered an element of contrast. To keep the cultural dynamics flowing, I finished the look with a pair of juttis and the classic wing-eye.

Lately, I have been having a resurgence in terms of my love for street photography. For me, this concept captures the unadulterated essence and rawness of a moment, something which is much reminiscent of our culture in prints, textiles and today in Meraki's designs.

The value and symbolic significance of jewellery is something that gets instilled in us while we are little girls and stays with us through different stages of life. The conscience awareness that jewellery is an important adornment in the life of a woman, it's timelessness from one generation to another and also it's preciousness as an element of investment, are qualities a girl is raised with.

Jewellery has always been associated with being spectacular and breathtaking, depicting the detailed craftsmanship and skill that goes into curating it. These were my initial thoughts as I browsed through Vivat's collection on Instagram. Though I myself favour the changing preferences towards light and  minimal jewellery, nothing can beat the grandeur of truly bold, statement pieces.

The collection at Vivat is a mix and balance of modern and traditional designs. Along with traditional stones, cuts and designs, Vivat also focuses on uncut, semi-precious stones set in a crushed gold or silver plating that enhances the beauty of the raw material used. The same, makes these pieces sit perfectly with Indian wear and are a definite treat when paired with more contemporary silhouettes. Fret not, because the jewellery is easy on the pocket which means as the festival and wedding season approaches, gone are your woes of wearing the same jewellery pieces over and over again. You can opt for wearing a choker alone or mix and match the sets. Wear an exquisite neck-piece as a headgear or as a modernized version of a kamar-band. Indian, westerns, contemporary Indian, solid colours, maxis, and even sharp, tailored suits it you dare, the options to pairing these beauties are many. Further, it is well ensured that those of you with sensitive skin do not develop allergies of any kind to non-precious metals.

My idea of this post was to showcase how stylishly these pieces can be worn with more present-day and revolutionized silhouettes. I felt it matched the brand's ideology and functioning to the fullest. I decided to layer these gorgeous neck-pieces to amplify the theatricals that I intended to achieve with this post. I am sure you all must be wondering about the structure of my outfit. Well, it is a DIY-ed version of a georgette sari. I draped it render a very Grecian appeal, yet maintain the robust floral print to depict this transition period. Finally, it was the weather that thankfully added the requisite drama to the overall look.

How would you choose to style these stunning pieces? Share your ideas with me in the comments section below. You can stop by my Instagram or tweet them to me. Also, don't forget to find Vivat on Facebook  and Instagram

TrimmingsAndLace For The Quirk Box : Long Gone

They say life is a better bucket to be in when you focus only on the CANs instead of the CANNOTs. Most often than not, I end up believing that the many platonic principals of life hold true for the world of art, fashion and style. The doer is the creator, risk converts into rewards, success out-steps comfort – are all statements celebrating those who can and those who do. And two individuals and their brand that have come to be associated with this fundamental and are today deeply respected in the industry are – Rixi and Jayesh from The Quirk Box.

For me personally, Rixi and Jayesh are mentors because at the very start of my blogging career, they gave me an opportunity to style for them by medium of my blog. Which is why, when this project came along it was a chance to acknowledge our association and maybe trace how far we’ve come.

The Quirk Box, as a brand has timelessly been amusing its audience with their new, kitsch and originally quirky designs. The collections and the very perspective behind them have always been enchanting and encapsulating, especially for those who are looking for new dimensions and layers in their personal style.
The very concept of the post was constructed around the era of the 50’s when the Hitchcock movies, Grace Kelly and his later muse Tippi Hedren ruled the roost. We attempted to project certain longingness and wait for the bygone lover, something which I instinctively connected with the print and silhouette of the entire outfit. Further, we tried to induce elements of mystery and suspense associated with incomplete words and unfinished letters.

For a more modern and everyday appeal, I bet these pieces will look as good on their own as they will when paired together. Top it up with a bright blazer or add nuances of colour like me, I am sure these pieces will be conversation starters and each of you will have an interesting story or a fascinating concept to explore. However, go easy on the accessories and let the print be the focal of your entire look.
I hope you enjoyed the look and the creative behind it. Don’t forget to join me on YouTube and give my maiden video a thumbs up. Also, stay tuned for an exciting Instagram giveaway.
