So, if you have been a regular, avid reader of my blog this may be your deja vu moment, and if you've joined me recently here's something about my journey so far.

I am sure such a plethora of links is bound to leave you overwhelmed, but I also do hope that they make up for a wonderful read and have something to offer and to cherish!

The value and symbolic significance of jewellery is something that gets instilled in us while we are little girls and stays with us through different stages of life. The conscience awareness that jewellery is an important adornment in the life of a woman, it's timelessness from one generation to another and also it's preciousness as an element of investment, are qualities a girl is raised with.

Jewellery has always been associated with being spectacular and breathtaking, depicting the detailed craftsmanship and skill that goes into curating it. These were my initial thoughts as I browsed through Vivat's collection on Instagram. Though I myself favour the changing preferences towards light and  minimal jewellery, nothing can beat the grandeur of truly bold, statement pieces.

The collection at Vivat is a mix and balance of modern and traditional designs. Along with traditional stones, cuts and designs, Vivat also focuses on uncut, semi-precious stones set in a crushed gold or silver plating that enhances the beauty of the raw material used. The same, makes these pieces sit perfectly with Indian wear and are a definite treat when paired with more contemporary silhouettes. Fret not, because the jewellery is easy on the pocket which means as the festival and wedding season approaches, gone are your woes of wearing the same jewellery pieces over and over again. You can opt for wearing a choker alone or mix and match the sets. Wear an exquisite neck-piece as a headgear or as a modernized version of a kamar-band. Indian, westerns, contemporary Indian, solid colours, maxis, and even sharp, tailored suits it you dare, the options to pairing these beauties are many. Further, it is well ensured that those of you with sensitive skin do not develop allergies of any kind to non-precious metals.

My idea of this post was to showcase how stylishly these pieces can be worn with more present-day and revolutionized silhouettes. I felt it matched the brand's ideology and functioning to the fullest. I decided to layer these gorgeous neck-pieces to amplify the theatricals that I intended to achieve with this post. I am sure you all must be wondering about the structure of my outfit. Well, it is a DIY-ed version of a georgette sari. I draped it render a very Grecian appeal, yet maintain the robust floral print to depict this transition period. Finally, it was the weather that thankfully added the requisite drama to the overall look.

How would you choose to style these stunning pieces? Share your ideas with me in the comments section below. You can stop by my Instagram or tweet them to me. Also, don't forget to find Vivat on Facebook  and Instagram

Revisiting : Stories From The Past

Much of my dressing-up in routine or otherwise is inspired by memories. Though as humans we try and adapt strongly to the theories and teachings of living in the present and 'letting-go', for me personally memories and instances from the past act as a propeller - good or bad. I feel I am genetically blessed with a memory sharp enough to remember dates and what I wore and when episodes. The faintest memory I have of Grecian dressing is from my school days for a Greek play called Antigone. Ever since then (or much before), I have been fascinated with the whole idea of toga dressing, head jewellery, wreaths and the play of gold against flowly chitons. So when I worked with the wonderful team at The Trunk Label, to style and theme a post around their magnificent Nadia cuff, I jumped on to re-live my Antigone moment and reprise my love for gold. If you have been reading my blog for long, you might as well be familiar with my love for statement pieces and jewellery pieces that hold a strong personality of their own. The Nadia cuff, certainly upholds to the same. It's dominating enough to complete your look and delicate enough to keep your dainty side up. Just how I like my jewellery. Afterall, that's how I have grown to connect with it.
Do you have pieces in your wardrobe which bring back memories and a smile? Don't forget to tell me about them.

Coming of Age : Camouflage

For me, quite literally this post has had its coming of age. As the fashion world witnessed a re-surge of the 'Camo Print' as part of the Fall/Winter 2013 runways, I knew I had to try the trend. But I was never really convinced to invest in one. My management principals prevailed and I asked one of my dear friends serving the Indian Army to come to my fashion rescue. Interdepartmental functionality - Yes they teach that well. My friend sent me over this jacket way back in November but much to my loss I couldn't come up with the best way to adorn this power weapon.
That's until the camouflage trend made the most anticipated comeback as part of the Spring 2013 fashion lines. Tough and strikingly powerful despite its uncomplicated nature, it comes as no surprise that camo print has stood the test of time to become fashion’s favourite form of abstraction. For me, being a starter I tried to implement it in an absolute care-free, casual and boho way. Pairing a camo print with whites, blacks and monotones is the safest and easiest way to bring out your military element. This also allows the print to shine out undisturbed. A subtle contrast and you are good, on way to make a power statement. With high-end stores bringing out textures by way of embellishments, studs and spikes infused on the print you can go edgy unperturbed. With the runaways adopting several variations in camo prints, colour combinations and fresh print overlays, I can't wait to pair this jacket in more ways than one. Certainly - Once a camo girl, always a camo girl!

Cupid Colors

Color Blocking (here and here) was THE trend in 2011, but this very trend has chosen to stay over. Not that I would complain! I have done the Red and Fuchsia combination before...though subtly. But after having seen this bright and bold color combination strut the red carpets, in addition to world wide fashionistas adorning it, I too decided to follow the suit. We all have those days when we find ourselves stuck in a style rut. Since, way wild was on my mind for some time now I can safely say that playing with different and new color combinations is always a great way to liven up your wardrobe. Red and Fuchsia are considered as clashing colors but they are seated next to each other on the color wheel. Thus these, analogous colors work well together to create some fascinating and surprisingly chic looks.
If you follow me on Facebook and Twitter, you would know already my love for maxi-skirts this season. My first post for The Dressing Room series saw me wear one...and surely Maxi-Skirts too are insisting to stay over.

Now Showing...THE DRESSING ROOM

I cannot classify this as an exclusive trait or habit. Nor can I put my words in a complete cliché. But I do live and dream 'outfits.' They are my best friends in the true sense of the word. From the little girl I was till today...I have spent some very precious moments in my Dressing Room. These moments are my capsules of glory, achievement, innovation, self-expression, self-realization, the pride of being ME and the dream of being SOMEONE the world looks up too (Stepping out of that sparkling black car and waving to a sea of people waiting to catch a glimpse of me and ofcourse wishing to know "Who Am I wearing?"..to be exact :P).

So, today on TrimmingsAndLace I am introducing a new series in the domain of personal style outfits - THE DRESSING ROOM. The Dressing Room shall include fantasy outfits – describe them as pieces wanting a chance to be adorned as ‘outfits’.
Although a long way to go before they are incorporated in my everyday style…but then aren’t DREAMS THE SEEDLINGS OF REALITY??

This is my maiden outfit for THE DRESSING ROOM series. I was very active in dramatics back in High-School. One of my favorite plays, which I got a chance to be a part of was titled 'ANTIGONE'. It was a Greek play on the life of a warrior princess - which by the way was me. This outfit  is my little cheer to that ANTIGONE. And a reminder to self that if things were in my hand I would have worn this and not that super shiny, Satin gown. No wonder school auditoriums never require reflectors.
