While working on my 'internal logistics', the other day I stumbled upon a list of my old, my favourite (if I may say so) TrimmingsAndLace blogposts. So, if you have been a regular, avid reader of my blog this may be your deja vu moment, and if you've joined me recently here's something about my journey so far.

I am sure such a plethora of links is bound to leave you overwhelmed, but I also do hope that they make up for a wonderful read and have something to offer and to cherish!

As each year comes to an end, it is inherently natural to reflect back on the journey so far and visualize what lies ahead. I am someone who has always had a mental to-do-this-year list but has never affirmed myself to any resolutions. That is largely because I feel much of the adventure called life is lost when you confine it to rules and game plans. I am also someone whose list this year isn't as fancy or decorative to write home about - to travel more, to build an empire, to look my best - you get the drill. And that's also because the year is commencing with a positively life altering phase and that's "getting married." I am in all honesty at a loss of words to describe my feelings but all I can say is that I am so ready and excited to witness and experience the many valuable moments, experiences, lessons and a holistic growth this phase will bring for me, both personally and professionally.

Classic Pieces For Every Fall

Spending That Wedding Budget Wisely

Like each of us who blogs, TrimmingsAndLace has been a personal diary of mine, a memoir that has captured the mood behind every post, the story behind each shoot and the general stage of life I was in. It might have been concealed by the words published but the memories of it are stronger and shall always be. Like a faithful book, it has helped me explore fashion ideas, concepts and ideologies like never before. By way of connecting and following such brilliant other blogs, it has made me strive and share a passion with such creative forces and influencers. By being a participant in their journey, I have seen their city through their eyes and have been utterly inspired by their thoughts and ideas. It is through this channel, that I could dream of being someone and have received a conscience resonance of an identity. None of this, would have been possible without each one of you who has shared my journey, become my virtual well wishers, stopped by my posts, commented, shared or even told me if it wasn't good enough. Each of you has contributed in making me who I am as a person today - be that in a professional role, the role of a daughter, sister, friend and now the role of a soon-to-be wife. The journey is just getting started, so do stick around as we explore and make it grand.

TrimmingsAndLace For Vajor : Bringing It Together

 photo _MG_8855.jpg photo _MG_8793.jpg photo _MG_8685.jpg photo _MG_8815.jpg photo _MG_8828.jpg photo _MG_8695.jpg photo _MG_8799.jpg photo _MG_8735.jpg

Among the many moments in life, when adrenaline rush thrives and the monotony of life comprises itself in a time frame ever so characteristic and dynamic, is the "festive season". As fashion enthusiasts we know there are seasons and there are trends, but nothing beats that surreal feeling when there is a new trend in the shape of a new day, each day. From much awaited get-togethers with family to endless conversations till the wee hours of the morning. From card parties with friends to all those exciting food menus. From the absolutely necessary shopping trips to planning for all the upcoming shaadis. The festive season is a bountiful of moments and occasions and definitely calls for special outfits for each. So as you chalk out your schedules, your dressing woes rest with the amazing fashion house that Vajor is. I've associated with team Vajor to curate for you guys three looks, from the The Great Festive Collection and their Exclusive Limited Edition, which can be styled in multiple ways and can be taken from day to night with minimal effort. I am thrilled and super excited to bring these to you.

Look 1 - My endeavour while creating this look was to personify how I dress-up during this season. Though the inclination remains to adorn Indian, the festive season sets the perfect backdrop to try more contemporary silhouettes. For my first look, I styled this modish version of the Indian Kurta. I absolutely love the print on it and I feel it is a statement in its own right. To complement the same, I added a bindi in a strong mustard to bring all the colours together and to reflect a contrast in Indian and contemporary tones. For me this outfit is a reflection of the onset of the festivities, a calm and composed start for all the extravagance that follows this season. I recommend this outfit for the day when you are attending guests, having luncheons or for pujas. For the night, I would like to style this outfit with my favourite pair of stilettos, statement earrings and deck up my hair with some marigold or jasmine flowers.

TrimmingsAndLace For Swarovski : A Sparkle A Time

A woman and her love for jewellery can never really be summed up in words, let alone contained. From the time she watches her mother adorn her treasures to dreaming of dressing up in heirlooms. From the inherent consciousness of collecting and savouring her jewellery pieces to stopping at those large, inviting display windows...woman and her love for jewellery wasn't really meant to be put into words, let alone contained.

Earlier this month I collaborated with Swarovski to style a look for this party season. I have always been a huge fan and an admirer of Swarovski crystals and jewellery. The finesse with which a simple piece of glass is so beautifully maneuvered to create something this delicate, is a form of unmatched art and skill. To celebrate this association and the timeless Swarovski appeal, I knew I had to save this look for the last. When it came to my outfit, I went ahead with the classic bling. If you are someone who prefers a look that is comfortable, easy and an extention to your personal favourites, the best is to stick to the classics. Doing so, leaves room for experimentation in jewellery, accessories and make-up. And that's pretty much what I did with this look. You can wear these pieces on their own, layer them or mix them to create a balanced look. I am sure you'll agree when I say that they'll look beautiful and appealing in every way. To balance the modern silhouette of the dress and giving in to old world charm, I added elements like this faux fur cape (Gifted by my grandmother, but never worn. This is for her) and did my lips in classic red. For the eyes I tried the Hollywood glam winged-eye (similar).

Now for the good bit. I need no Swarovski, said no woman ever. This year has been so overwhelming for me, in more ways than one. I feel I can never thank any of you enough for the love and support you have given this little endeavour of mine. If you are the one who is a regular reader of my blog, the one who likes and comments regularly or the one who never does but also never fails to stop by, I express my sincerest gratitude. When October Spoke To Me

I call my love and fascination for the festive season as weird and unusual. Besides the obvious dressing mutations that change as a result of fall in temperatures, I myself cannot pick, accept or justify why I love and dream festivities like no other. Maybe its because of the faint celebratory sounds that make way through the quietness of the night or it is the unison with which the roads get jam packed, sweet shops get flooded with people or the sight of your city beaming in a sea of lights. Maybe it has to do with a week long cleaning drive my mom initiates at home calling it the essential Diwali cleaning or memories of falling in love or the relief of finishing semester exams right before the action starts. Maybe it is this enigma and unanswered charm of it all that makes the festival season so special for me, year after year.

When it comes to dressing for Diwali, I am a stickler for traditional. However, considering how hectic my day gets with all the guests, lunches, family visits and prayers, I can barely manage a change before the evening celebrations begin. Hence, I always try that my outfit, jewellery and make-up is easy and comfortable to take me from day to night. Pairing this lehnga skirt with a tailored crop-top, juttis and minimal accessories is going to be my route this year. Plus, I love how these vibrant autumn hues come together seamlessly.

This post, personally has been the most challenging for me. We wanted to showcase the outfit amidst the fervour and rustle-bustle of the festivities and chose to shoot this look at a fair right in the heart of Chandigarh. Practical difficulties and inhibitions of the mind intact, I would like to believe that we were able to get results worthy of a day's job.

I hope this post does its bit in evoking your beautiful memories, with promises of an even more lustrous and glowing future. My sincerest best wishes to each one of you and your loving families. Thank you for all the love. Happy festivities!

A lot of back-end activities for the blog have kept me occupied the past few days. Add to that the festival fervour and the inherent love and nostalgia October brings in for me. Hence, I missed touching base with this space. With the crispness of Autumn finally drawing in, I can't wait to share my styling ideas with you all. Till then, here's an snippet from life over Instagram. Thank you for being around!
