Undeniably, the charm of getting dressed for a wedding is unparalleled. Even though there can be times when your presence at every wedding of the season becomes necessary which in turn makes dressing up a chore, largely the whole fanciness around a wedding and dressing up for the same remains...well fancy. However, there is a harshly subtle reality to the whole wedding dressing scenario. The reality states that dressing up is always easy and weddings are always fun when they belong to someone else. Having been the bride's sister a year ago and the bride-to-be myself, I can assure you that wedding planning isn't as glamorous as it seems to be or can be as organized as the Pinterest time tables prescribe. Work-out wears become OOTD and missed meals become the order of the day. Nonetheless, each moment of it all is overwhelming and divine. I feel truly blessed to be at this stage of my life and am certainly looking forward to all that is to come. And I shall surely see you around!

A Shift Dress to fashion is what mindless television is to weekends. It's a no-brainer when it comes to styling, can be dressed up or dressed down and allows you to miss out on the accessories. All you need is a pair of your most comfortable heels (yes, sense the irony) or your oxfords/loafers (yes, in case you are lucky) and your world in your bag and you are good to run multiple errands during the day or step in and out of meetings. This pretty much has been my last week and the shift dresses of the closet have been my saviour. Also largely because, given the weather and the soaring humidity, there is nothing better, quick or comfortable that I can think of. Having been the fashion circuit's newest baby, the bucket bag has made a large space in my heart as well. I mean it's chic, ultra spacious and all you need to do is to be lazy and throw your stuff in. Now, who doesn't love that?

The Person A Watch Makes Me

When it comes to identifying and understanding this broad term called fashion, I have always maintained that fashion and style are a reflection of you. It is your beliefs, ideologies, the discussions you have amongst your friends, your choice of music and art, the books you read and what lessons of life you've imbibed from your parents, teachers and family - for me fashion sensibilities are a product of the above. One of the very early lessons in dressing that I was taught and live by is the importance of wearing a watch. I've grown up seeing my parents keeping their respective watches in that anchored space of the cabinet. When my sister and I were kids, whenever my dad used to travel one of the most precious components of his gifts bandwagon used to be a watch for my sister and me. I remember my dad getting this limited edition Swatch watch for my sister, which incidentally broke one day at school. Needless to say it made my sister extremely upset and adding to her dismay was the fact that no possible store in India could fix it. Years (and yes I mean years) later my parents 'discovered' someone who managed to fix it. Yet again, needless to say by then we were a little old to wear it.

For me a watch signifies your take on life. It makes you feel more in control of the uncontrollable and acts as a reminder that those bullet needles cannot beat you. A watch is your constant benchmark, teaching you discipline like no other. And strongly said not wearing one, unless the occasion demands you skip, is a turn off.

A few weeks back I received this elegant Classic Trinity Lady in rose gold from Daniel Wellington. Without a second thought, I knew that when it came to styling it will be all about the person a watch makes me. I hope you like the post.

Don't forget to share your stories with me in the comments section below or tweet/Instagram them to me. Also, if you haven't heard and see it around as yet I am happy to share that TrimmingsAndLace is amongst the selected few enjoying an exclusive access to the newly introduced #ViberPublicChats feature. It is an extremely engaging platform and perhaps the most personal I am having a chance to be on. You can be a part of my conversation at -TrimmingsAndLace

Of Ikat And Brazilian Sunshine

There are many journeys in life which each of us have to take alone. And the first step of each of this journey is accompanied by a fathomless fear and anxiety. That's when the call for a smooth sailing from family and friends makes destination achievable and the process an experience of justifiable pride. With claims of fashion blogging being a hobby or frequent trips to shopping malls being on a decline, my journey with TrimmingsAndLace has become a learning and rewarding experience to live every day. The same seems easy because amidst the many who shun you, there are many who rest their belief in you and except the same from you.
This very much is a day in the life of Rabia N Singh and Akash Sinha from October. An idea tends to explore similar dimensions and stages after its very inception, and this talented duo are doing an amazing bit to make their ideas come to life...and how! October is a lifestyle brand and a warehouse of talent based at the heartland of Indianess - Jaipur and bringing the same to the world with aplomb. What fascinated me the most about their products is the artistic and precise mix of durrie and leather, lending their products a very vintage, earthy yet contemporary feel. Being a voucher for products that live long and can be used in multiple ways, it just took a glance to fall in love with their work. October specializes in a wide range of travel bags, shopper bags, totes, tech cases, sling bags and wallets each of which can be completely customized to suit your needs.
Ikat has always been one of my favourite prints and I was ecstatic to pick this lovely sling bag from their work-shop. To do justice to the beauty of the print and the modern structure of the bag, I decided to keep the outfit very minimal lending a soft contrast to the bag. Sunshine yellow, gold sandals and subtle coral earrings took it all to complete this look. Further, we conceptualized the shoot to include strong, architectural elements from the city with an aim to bring together the facets of tradition, evolution and modernity. And if you are wondering about the title to this post, well you will find your answer here..

It is sometimes challenging but always fun to build an outfit around one or two statement pieces. More so, to do this with elements you love. I’ve always remained undecided as to what I love more between pastels and neons. The soft, delicate demure of pastels is most refreshing and fit for days wherein you wish for a whirlwind of romance and Parisian charisma to engulf you. The dynamic effect of neons plays to work its colour magic on you making you feel confident and in control of the field. Hence, the opportunist in me, for this very look, decided to marry the conservative with the edgy.

When the gorgeous ladies at Miss Flurrty decided to shower me with some jewellery love, I couldn’t wait to jump the bandwagon and give their beautiful, hand-picked pieces a right canvas to uphold. With this very look, I paired the candy-floss whites and baby-pinks, with this fancy-grunged neon neck-piece and neon pumps. Pairing completely opposite pieces in minimal degrees always works to create a balanced and holistic look that isn’t stark or in-your face. This also documents Miss Flurrty's ideology and taste in what they offer to their customers. There pieces don't tend to over-compensate your look, yet even if you add one piece in your outfit it will be substantial to make a statement. That’s something I’ve grown to believe strongly in my personal style and Miss Flurrty stands up to deliver the same. And I bet you, if you are neon averse a neck-piece like mine is the perfect start.

This shoot has been very special for more reasons than one. It’s been wonderful to collaborate with the young and very talented Sohail Singh who with his undeniable love for photography and dreams surrounding the same, surely has a long way to go. Do visit his work (here) and show your love. Oh! Did I mention we shot in the middle of a busy, rush-hour over-bridge? Yes, we love our jobs!
