A Shift Dress to fashion is what mindless television is to weekends. It's a no-brainer when it comes to styling, can be dressed up or dressed down and allows you to miss out on the accessories. All you need is a pair of your most comfortable heels (yes, sense the irony) or your oxfords/loafers (yes, in case you are lucky) and your world in your bag and you are good to run multiple errands during the day or step in and out of meetings. This pretty much has been my last week and the shift dresses of the closet have been my saviour. Also largely because, given the weather and the soaring humidity, there is nothing better, quick or comfortable that I can think of. Having been the fashion circuit's newest baby, the bucket bag has made a large space in my heart as well. I mean it's chic, ultra spacious and all you need to do is to be lazy and throw your stuff in. Now, who doesn't love that?

The Quirkviduality Duo

As a stylist, Autumn/Winter is my favourite time of the year. It’s the time when you can safely detach your fashion ideas from the conventional. You can throw on a scarf to brighten up the monotones and play around with colours and contrasts like never before. Against the dim sun cheerful prints help brave the cold, much like the vibrant plaids and tartans.
Talking of prints, fashion has forever been revolutionizing prints. I have never doubted the power of a print – be that florals, abstract, whacky, geometric or animal prints. However, post this I have never been surer of the power of a kitsch piece to make a statement like no other. THIS thanks to the pioneer of functional art in India – The Quirk Box. The Quirk Box products besides being fun, colourful, entertaining and a show-door to anything and everything mundane, are inspiring. They draw out a different perception, sometimes subjective, but always let the quirkviduality shine. Case in point this dream circus boyfriend jacket. Initially, my styling ideas were up against the wall with this jacket, but once worn all pieces came together and this statement jacket was ready to shine on.
A cropped top lends a wonderful balance to the boyfriend jacket, while keeping the femininity of the look intact. My infatuation with crop tops over seasons has grown by the day. Bra tops, crop tees, ruffled bandeaus' or corsets, this is one trend and I vouch for self, is not going to be ditched anytime soon. Statement earrings and some arm candy in neutral tones were my accessories of choice to enhance the look without diluting the glory of our center-piece!

Do-It-Yourself : Two For An Experiment

I have always believed that if you are looking for fashion inspiration or any item that keeps you in sync with whats in trend, your haven is your own closet (or your mom's). While I was in progress of a closet shift and re-shift, thanks to the erratic weather up north, not only did I realize that soon the fashion world would be greeting bye to OXBLOOD (Yes in capitals), but I also saw 'something' hanging in there which had always been there and I had simply been oblivion to it. The 'something' in question was an oxblood lace salwar kameez, which hadn't really seen the light of the day in long. A little but bright in.my.head bulb just lit that very minute. Step 2 - Heading to the local tailor (How I crave to use the term darzi), getting the side slits sewed and length altered and here you have it - this oxblood lace dress! Isn't this one a quick D.I.Y and an interesting revamp/reform/recycle for your wardrobe? What do you think?
In addition to the trends I have (yes its winters still) been loving this Fall/Winter, I also adore how oxblood and wine stand together. The whole there and not there (contrast) vibe of these two colours helps you play with the textures. That's the reason why I chose to keep this look going in a one-tone palette. Also, for some one who loves her contrasts this was something new and experimental. Perhaps two for this post! Yes, tell me about it...

Neon Rush - Take 2

A big big big hello my dear followers :) How are things going on for all of you?

I am choosing to make this post a FEEDBACK POST which makes me wait with bated breath for your responses. I request your feedback on two things:

1. My outfit for this post - believe you me I am a lot jittery about it.
2. Since now I am a two month old blogger, how would you describe my style? Voting time...
(You can vote by following the widget on the right bottom)

Coming over to my outfit for the day. If you guys remember my Neon Inspiration this very post also stems from the same. I have worn this look a couple of times before and I am finally sharing the same with you guys. I have to admit that I took on this look from India's answer to Blake Lively a.k.a Sonam Kapoor. No matter how much she is pushed for trying to be all reel Serena and real Blake Lively...I do think that the lass herself does have a good sense of style!!

The Style I talk about is - HIGH WAIST PANTS!!
Here's how I wear this super comfortable look in Neon:

So you remember my neon tank from Promod. I wore the same with these high waist pants bought from a local store in Chandigarh. My mother was generous enough to trust me with her Louis Vuitton tote :)
The accessories:

I accessorized the look by wearing my leaf pendant chain from Forever 21. I also belted the pants with a metallic flexi belt in gold plus I wore my mom's dress watch and bracelet set in gold and rubies :) On my feet I wear these leopard printed loafers from Atmosphere!!

I have for you the high waist pants look as worn by Blake Lively and Sonam Kapoor!! I guess we all can contemplate as to who inspires whom :*

Isn't Sonam Kapoor's Ferragamo tote in Pic 1 and Blake Lively's pumps to die for??

Neon Rush

Hello Dearies!!
How are you all? Well I have had a nomadic week..Yes NOMADIC in the literal sense. The reason for the same was that my house was being re-done. New shades on the walls, new interiors, new furniture, new settings..well a lot was going on..and the end result is indeed quite impressive :) Happy :D
It was a nomadic experience because the entire stuff of the to-be-touched room was one day shifted to the untouched room and then re-shifted to the room from where it was originally shifted the next day because it was the untouched room's turn to be touched???...the weird emulsion smell has done something to me!!

So, there wasn't much dressing that took place, however, amidst the entire series of activities that were taking place around me what caught my fancy were the shades of neon which in one form or the other the wonderful labourers wore.
I respect them to the core, they helped in making my house a HOME. Salute!!
And I proudly say the inspiration behind this post are those lovely people :)

Here is my Neon + Crochet look:

I wore black shorts with a Lime Neon tank and a crochet jacket. I wear crocodile skin textured gladiators on my feet and accessorized the entire look with wooden bangles and a wood like neck-piece!!

I quite enjoyed how this entire look came out when put together..especially the long crochet jacket over the shorts. My mother called it a beach look cause of my after shower hair :p

Have a closer look at my accessories:

Wearing: Black Shorts and Gladiators thrifted from Delhi, Tank Top Promod, The chunkier bangle and the neck-piece Aldo, remaining bangles thrifted from Delhi and Shimla :)

So does my look qualify to be a beach look? Would love to know from you guys!!
P.S. Do you remember how I wore crochet before??

From the archives - Winter hues - Red and Blue

Hey guys..I guess I would be archiving a few more of my looks of Winter 2011. Well winter in not at all of all greys, navy blues and blacks. Infact winter gives us chances to venture out and play with different hues be that bright colours or the subtle ones. Agreed that the bright ones are to be kept for the springs, but don't we cheer up when we adorn them on a foggy morning?
Well my first look is Ohhhh - so Blair Waldorf inspired!! Take a look:

The Winters characterized by the warm sun and accompanied by the chilly breeze demanded that i wear layers...Red is my solid contrast with black..and i wore a leopard print wrap underneath just to add sum fun to the solid block of colours..catch my red ballerina flats playing peek-a-boo..:)

Incase, you still havnt figured out as to why this look was a Blair Waldorf inspired, I shall be obliged to answer. This quarter sleeved red blazer has been my best buy this season and I was lucky to finally find it at Forever 21 after admiring this style in many Gossip Girl episodes (Read BW). Plus I chose to wear it with a head band so really made me feel so Blair :):)

The second look that I have included in this post, is a simple one. The winter greys and blacks have been poped up with ELECTRIC BLUE!! Incase you wondering as to why electric blue has been put in capitals is cause its my all time favourite colour. I can safely say I am obssessed with it!!

This black top is my multi purpose thing and its minimal sequin detail compensates for no accessories. These flats ares super comfortable and they have this grey-blue leopard printed satin scarf on top wic makes them kinda cute :):) The fun part is that the grey sleeveless cardigan that I wear is my Dad's. I love to wear his clothes especially during winters..its fun and for no apparent reason they are super cosy :)

The Pinks You Cannot Miss

How To Layer Like A New Yorker

So,obviously this cardigan was loose on me, so i belted it up and pleated it from the back, like this :

And Voillaaaaaa!!
