Shot By - Sahil Nanda

As a fashion blogger, stylist and someone who is genetically blessed with an average height, heels often are my rescue. However, like most of you, traditionally I am all in all a flats person. Eight out of ten times, if the occasion permits, you'll see me in flats. I head out for my shoots and meetings in flats with the heels making an appearance just before I step out of the car. There too, you would rarely find me in sandals or any open-toe flats. I am a complete loafers, moccasins and ballerina kind of girl and perhaps too definitive when it comes to my flats.

This is exactly how my meeting with the VAPH team started. VAPH as a brand specializes in leather and leather textures. But what's interesting is how they have transcended the boundaries of classic leather shoes and colour tones, to introduce variants in terms of colours and textures. In their beautifully designed lookbook you'll be lost in choice amidst some colourful loafers, oxfords, lace-ups, boots and sandals crafted in a combination of suede and treated leather. Don't forget to refer the style guide for some amazing style inspirations and tips. With over 30 years of experience in designing, sourcing and shoe construction, needless to say that their pieces are crafted with meticulous attention to detail and quality.

One glance at the collection and I knew that these Isabelle loafers belonged to me. However, dressing up everyday and slipping into the closest pair of flats that you find to styling this pair was somewhat of a challenge for me. The unbound utility of these loafers to run multiple errands during the day is unmatched, but through this post I wanted to depict how stylish they look when styled for an easy and relaxed day. My idea of the same was to spend it in shorts and this breezy off-shoulder top. Thankfully it had rained a couple of hours before we set out to shoot, and what was meant to be a shoot turned into a fun day spent at the park. Heels might be a woman's weapon to stance, poise and power but flats for me are symbolic of her innocence, the child inside her and her little ways of making the world around her joyous and beautiful. An hour into the shoot and a array of feelings...a pair of shoes can change lives!

This particular pair has become my go-to and the most dependable pair on my shoe rack presently. It's easy to slip on, comfortable and sturdy especially during the rains. Don't believe me? See me do Snapchat story to show you the obvious. You can add me - TrimmingsAndLace. And for all of you dying to shop, you can check out VAPH shoes on Flipkart, Myntra and Jabong.

TrimmingsAndLace For Nautica : Where Summer Never Ends

 photo 0K6A0655_D.jpg photo 0K6A0673_D.jpg photo 0K6A0642_D.jpg photo 0K6A0634_Dmw.jpg photo 0K6A0701_D.jpg photo 0K6A0636_D.jpg photo 0K6A0683_D.jpg photo 0K6A0700_D.jpg

A fashion genre that aptly gets described by a set of three colours that predominantly constitutes it is - Nautical. The geometric precision of stripes, checks and dots combined in a trio of whites, blues and reds, transcends you to the deep seas and to waters and lands where summer never ends. The emotions in the life of a sailor, the stories of valor, celebrations and adventures, the nostalgia of the sea is something an institution like Nautica lives up to. Their philosophy manifests itself in everything -  from their collections to their store décor. Which is why, when I was asked to style their S/S'15 collection as part of the #MyNautica campaign, it was a sentiment in itself. Confirming to it's very ideology, the collection is a vibrant mix of colours in polos and the quintessential stripes in tanksmaxis and dresses. What I personally loved in this collection was the experimentation in techniques and the overall modular appeal of the garment (Loved this and this). The collection confirms to the Nautica aesthetics of precision and uniformity in tailoring, while keeping the comfort factor intact.

For this look, I decided to romance the summer whites and added a vertical and horizontal contrast of stripes by way of the tank and the shirt. I added a tinge of red to the look via my lips and hair. Moschino-esque heavy metal and a textural contrast via the bag, I managed to pacify my longingness for the sea. Well, clothes are always a solution. Let's drink to that sailors!

The Denim Trick

Hey there my beautiful people!!

How are you all? I hope life is at its best for all of you. All is great at my side too (Thank You for asking :)), except the terrible weather from which there isn't a run-out. I did mention to you all that I love rains but all is well until it JUST rains. What follows after that for me is best described as a HAIR DISASTER. If you haven't guessed it yet, I am talking of THE HUMIDITY. I read and read and read (and try) so many style tips/products to keep my hair under control in this season, but they seem to have become senseless to my plea or actions. Aaarrggghhhh..
I am lucky to have the typical straight hair, but in this very weather they get possessed. I had a little encounter today, when a neighbour of mine remarked, " Ohhh have you gone thinner or are you looking thin just because your hair are all pinned up?" All I did was give her a polite smile and say "Maybe" but in my mind I yelled like Monica from F.R.I.E.N.D.S, "It's the HUMIDITY."
If you lovelies have any answers or are facing a similar situation please do let me know :):)
This makes me also know one thing of life...I'LL NEVER BUY A HOUSE NEXT TO THE BEACH...VACATIONS MANAGEABLE!!

Coming over to my outfit for the post. We all know that Fashion in the Summer of 2011 saw a denim makeover. I did try incorporating a few elements of denim in one of my previous post's. Denim extended beyond the regular jeans and found place in dresses, shirts, blazers et all. In this very post, I try and do DENIM SHIRTS. I didn't play adventurous and teamed them with khaki Capris...after all nothing beats the magical blue and khaki combo.

Here's what I wore:

As you are observing, this is a very basic look. A super comfortable pair of Capris teamed with a shirt/T-shirt and loafers..and you are ready to go!! I felt that this look also got in the effortless Spring/Summer 2011 trend of ANDROGYNY.  Since, the outfit seemed 'boyish' I added feminine accessories to it. After all, its femininity summed with masculinity which best describes Androgyny. (That rhymes isn't :P)

In order to keep the tone neutral, I accessorized with a stack of gold bangles, hoops and wore leopard print loafers.

Wearing:

  • Denim Shirt also called Chambray Shirt: Ralph Lauren
  • Khaki Capris: Mango
  • Loafers: Atmosphere
  • Hoops: Aldo
  • Belt and Bangles: Thrifted

Remember me in Khaki?

How to wear the classic Denim Button-down Shirt? Some ideas..

1. The denim on denim look works great, but make sure that the washes are different.
2. Denim shirts can be thrown over floral dresses or maxis. It really doesn't get better!!
3. To wear it formally, team it up with a blazer in Black or Navy-Blue.
4. To be super casual, the denim shirt can be worn open over a basic white tank and jeans
5. Camel/Tan accessories work best when wearing Denim.
6. Donnig the androgynous denim look is cool but do not over-do it. Know where to halt :p
7. Always remember to add a hint of femininity.

I hope you enjoyed today's post :)

Neon Rush - Take 2

A big big big hello my dear followers :) How are things going on for all of you?

I am choosing to make this post a FEEDBACK POST which makes me wait with bated breath for your responses. I request your feedback on two things:

1. My outfit for this post - believe you me I am a lot jittery about it.
2. Since now I am a two month old blogger, how would you describe my style? Voting time...
(You can vote by following the widget on the right bottom)

Coming over to my outfit for the day. If you guys remember my Neon Inspiration this very post also stems from the same. I have worn this look a couple of times before and I am finally sharing the same with you guys. I have to admit that I took on this look from India's answer to Blake Lively a.k.a Sonam Kapoor. No matter how much she is pushed for trying to be all reel Serena and real Blake Lively...I do think that the lass herself does have a good sense of style!!

The Style I talk about is - HIGH WAIST PANTS!!
Here's how I wear this super comfortable look in Neon:

So you remember my neon tank from Promod. I wore the same with these high waist pants bought from a local store in Chandigarh. My mother was generous enough to trust me with her Louis Vuitton tote :)
The accessories:

I accessorized the look by wearing my leaf pendant chain from Forever 21. I also belted the pants with a metallic flexi belt in gold plus I wore my mom's dress watch and bracelet set in gold and rubies :) On my feet I wear these leopard printed loafers from Atmosphere!!

I have for you the high waist pants look as worn by Blake Lively and Sonam Kapoor!! I guess we all can contemplate as to who inspires whom :*

Isn't Sonam Kapoor's Ferragamo tote in Pic 1 and Blake Lively's pumps to die for??
