TrimmingsAndLace For Himalaya : The Orange Peel-off Mask

 photo _MG_2335.jpg photo _MG_2359.jpg photo _MG_2358.jpg photo _MG_2368.jpg

The summer heat might be bidding us a fast farewell, but it does leave behind bitter sweet traces of tan on the skin which are hard to get rid off. The summers and the holiday season must have been the time when you loved this tan and made up for quite a show off, but come festive season I bet you want to look your radiant and glowing best. Well, we are in luck because Himalaya recently launched their Tan Removal Orange Peel-off Mask, and you'll be over the moon that they did. My earliest memory of a peel-off mask is that of my mother using one regularly, and now if you follow me on Snapchat and Instagram you would know that I am a mask lover myself. Hence, when I was given this opportunity to try out this product while it was in its pre-launch stage, no surprises I couldn't refuse.

The Himalaya Tan Removal Orange Peel-off Mask, is an effective blend of natural ingredients like Orange peel and honey, known for their skin lightening and brightening properties. Orange peel, through its peeling action, helps control melanin synthesis aiding in removing tan and lightening the skin tone, while honey helps in soothing, moisturizing and hydrating the skin. The Orange peel extracts also act as a natural cleanser for the skin, help eliminate excess oil and render a more even-tone texture to the skin, Likewise, honey contains superior antibacterial, probiotic and healing properties and is extremely beneficial in nourishing the skin for that healthy, youthful glow.

HOW TO USE -

Apply the mask on cleansed skin avoiding the skin around your eyes. The mask is similar to a gel in consistency and hence glides smoothly. Allow the mask to dry for 10-15 minutes. Once done, gently peel off the mask from the skin. I do recommend doing a patch test before you apply the mask on your skin, because the mask did break me out where I am most susceptible to acne. Since then, I've avoided using it on that area in particular and am quite happy with the results on the rest of my skin. I do use it twice a week, and can reckon that it fairly does what it claims.

I hope this was helpful and made you less stressed about looking your best this festive season. Don't forget to let me know!

TrimmingsAndLace : My 6 Must-Have Foundations

 photo _MG_0096_1.jpg photo _MG_0103_1.jpg photo 2016-06-22.jpg photo _MG_0197_1.jpg photo _MG_0129.jpg photo _MG_0119.jpg

For the longest time ever I have believed and accepted on the blog, that my make-up knowledge is a result of tests and trials and much of it had been borrowed. It took me quiet a while to come up with this post and to claim that this piece of writing comes out of experience. My own wedding and my real sister's, probably two optimum occasions for me to "experiment". None the less, being a regular in my make-up bag for over three years now, with an increased rate of application, I can affirm that my views can be borrowed. Without much delay, let us begin!

Disclaimer - I won't be delving into the different skin type details, because these are formulas that work best for my skin. I have a combination skin and I am typically oily around my T-zone. My skin is also very sensitive, is prone to acne and isn't blemish free.

M.A.C Face and Body (I'm in the shade - N1)

This product has been my maiden major make-up buy. M.A.C Face and Body has been a timeless, patented classic and a must-have for all prominent make-up artists. It took me about two empty bottles to finally purchase the shade that suits me right. Since the foundation is water based, it is a little runny but is quite hydrating on the skin. It provides a light to medium coverage, which can be built depending upon your preference. As M.A.C claims, it is meant to provide a natural, even and a luminous appearance to your skin and indeed does so. However, since it is a light-weight formula, it does little to conceal any under-eye patches or blemishes, but smoothens the skin to impart a healthy glow. Because of the very same, when I do wear make-up I do not reach out for this product because I do want to conceal my problem areas. Which is why, I largely use it on my legs and arms especially when I am filming videos. What I absolutely love about this product is the fact that it is super long-lasting and doesn't come off on the clothes at all. This is a major sell-out for me, and hence a part of my must-have!

M.A.C Studio Fix Foundation (I'm in the shade - NC 20)

If I have to qualify and put something in the "Can't do without" bracket, this product would be it. I absolutely love it. I am very minimal when it comes to make-up, and my everyday work make-up (excluding shoots, events and important meetings) simply involves a swipe of this wonder product. To begin with, M.A.C Studio Fix is an amazing combination of both a foundation as well as a powder. It is highly refined in texture which is why it is almost unnoticeable on the skin, leaving enough room for the skin to breathe. It imparts a velvety feel to the skin, gives a matte finish and is amazingly long-lasting. The foundation can definitely be built up, but if you are someone who prefers a full coverage, I would suggest that you use it on top of your regular liquid foundation. I resort to this step only when I am shooting and it works perfectly for touch-ups as well. If you are a make-up beginner, this product is a must-buy simply because its an all-in-one kinda thing!

M.A.C Mineralize SkinFinish Natural (I'm in the shade - MEDIUM)

I picked up this product, before my wedding, while I was on a look-out for a setting powder and boy do I love it or what! M.A.C Mineralize SkinFinish Natural is a range of baked, mineral pressed powders largely meant to be used as a setting agent for your make-up. True to its claims, it works perfectly. More so because, it feels so light, breathable and natural on the skin. This product has been my perfect bet during the rainy, humid weather as it works brilliantly to control oil and saves you from that oily sheen. Basis the same, you do have an option to use it simply over your regular moisturizer, however, the product being sheer in texture it won't impart any coverage of sorts. It shall simply help in making your skin look smooth, semi-matte and dimensional. Its main role is that of a setting powder and it does so wonderfully. So much so, I have to admit that I feel incomplete without it. I use it over my SPF, over all the products mentioned in this post and for any touch-ups during the day. I think I've made my point!

CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua (I'm in the shade - 20 Beige)

I could actually find myself gushing at the thought of CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua because it is magical. It is smooth, has an ultra fine texture and sits perfectly on the skin. It lends a very dewy, healthy from within, fresh rosy glow to the skin which for me is the perfect rendition of the French skin. It smells divine and an absolute sell-out for me is that it has an SPF of 15. This ones again a water based formula and requires a good shake before you use it. For me it works best when applied with fingers. Claimed to provide light to medium coverage, for me personally, it works as a full coverage formula concealing blemishes and/or other problem areas. Because of its refined texture, this foundation also is light reflective and hence works perfectly for occasions where you are likely to be photographed. An added bonus in that scenario is that it is extremely long-lasting. However, it does transfer on to clothes which is why setting it with a powder becomes necessary.

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Creme (I'm in the shade - 32 Beige Clair Light Beige)

So, if you are following me on Snapchat you'll be familiar with me reviewing products and/or giving a break-down of my make-up looks. I happened to review the Bourjois CC Creme last year, and my first words were that this product is the budget friendly version of CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua. I picked up this product primarily because Lisa Eldridge had raved so much about it on her channel. Also, because I was on a look-out for a more "everyday" product and keep aside my premium buys for special occasions alone. As the name suggests, this product is a combination of colour correcting pigments and a moisturizing creme. I was in denial of the whole colour correction fad and the whole idea of a green, red or an orange product targeted towards different skin concerns. However, after using this product I can second that it does something to address these concerns. Is that the coloured pigments or the basic formula in itself, but yes it does work. With an SPF of 15, for me this product works as a second layer of hydration and protection on the skin. It provides a light, sheer coverage and adds a healthy glow and luminosity to the skin. For me, its best applied with fingers and with a swish of M.A.C's SkinFinish I'm good to go. If someone was to ask me what is my everyday make-up routine, majorly, it would be these two products used together. If you suffer from acne, the green pigments work perfectly to conceal any redness. I also have a feeling that when I use it on top of any angry pimple, it helps reduce the inflammation as well. Lastly, for its price it definitely is a grab!

Make-Up Forever HD Foundation (I'm in the shade - N125)

Once again, I picked up this product after seeing Lisa Eldridge's videos that seconded the claim that the product has been designed for the more extreme details of today's ultra high definition technology. Since, I had decided to do my own make-up for all minor wedding functions of mine, plus I had a professional need as well, to put it straight I had to buy it. And once again, totally worth the spurge. This foundation is an oil-free, SPF free formula and is nearly invisible to the HD cameras and the naked eye alike. It provides a medium to full range coverage, rendering a very even, smooth and radiant canvas to the skin. However, it sets a little too early on the skin so you need to be quick and work your way around it. Also, it oxidizes after a couple of hours and on me gives a very sun-kissed, tanned kinda look which works brilliantly (If I may say so) in photographs. Because this foundation sets so well, the need of a setting powder is marginally reduced. I do like to brush it over my T-zone though. The product is a little on the costlier side, but a little goes a long way which makes it totally worth the amount spent. So, if you are a bride-to-be or in a profession that requires you to be in front of the camera, Make-Up Forever HD Foundation is an absolute holy grail.

Would just like to quickly add in here that none of these products broke me out or caused any kind of irritation to the skin. So if these are your concerns in any way, be rest assured. I hope this post was helpful and would love to know your views on the same!

TrimmingsAndLace For Vajor : Building The Empire

My second look (first, in case you missed) featuring the work-wear collection by Vajor, is a tribute to all you corporate, power women who often feel contained in the silhouette of shirts and trousers and the perceived world of monotones. The latest corporate collection at Vajor, covers this zone albeit very fashionably. From gorgeous pencil skirts to dresses, from subtly embellished peplum tops to as-good-as tailored trousers, this collection is bound to transform all the mundaneness to corporate chic-ness. Many of you might have concerns with wearing body-con figurations to their corporate workplace. I have repeatedly vouched for Vajor's understanding and quality when it comes to this. Their fabrics and cuts are extremely superior and beautifully shape enhancing. So if you are worried about any underlines or your natural shape in general, I bet this collection is definite to make you love your curves like never before. I kept this look very minimalistic and sleek. To avoid any lure to a complete black and white look, I added a subtle contrast by way of these reading glasses and these delicate stud earrings.

TrimmingsAndLace For Vajor : Girl Boss

 photo _MG_7692copy copy_1.jpg photo _MG_7767 copy_1.jpg photo _MG_7897 copy_1.jpg photo Re-Edit_1.jpg photo _MG_7792 copy_1.jpg photo _MG_7708 copy_1.jpg photo _MG_7772 copy_1.jpg photo _MG_7749 copy_1.jpg photo _MG_7932 copy_1.jpg

Women and their work wear share a very symbolic relationship that has come of age. Work wear today, across our varied professional roles, is reflective of our choices, independent decision making and our capability to uphold and balance positions of power. Vajor has always rested its fashion ideology as an investment in statement and utility pieces. Vajor does apparels and accessories that are modern and structured, but find balance in the realms of femininity. The new Vajor work-wear collection is no different. The collection has been tastefully curated and thoughtfully categorized into - CreativeEntrepreneur and Corporate - to address women across multiple and dynamic career choices. The collection has been designed to include a mix of aesthetically pleasing body-con and ladylike silhouettes, structured layering pieces and preppy prints, warm neutrals and crispy colour palettes.element, which I felt pulled the look together without swaying away from the genre.
The first in the series of these three looks is my take on the entrepreneurial tier, the role I portray in my own life. The pieces included in this genre are stylishly relaxed yet well-structured to convey a no-fuss and an I-mean-business attitude. Because the pieces in this category are minimalistic in their demeanor they give you the liability to dress up or dress down depending upon your schedules. In this very look, I paired this extremely comfortable powder blue linen shirt-dress with a pair of Ikat print sandals in the same shade. The printed sandals add a great textural contrast to the overall look. I styled this look for the day I am running in and out of meetings and it is necessary that my attire speaks professionalism but is comfortable to get me through the day. For another day, spent sourcing or conceptualizing, I would prefer pairing the dress with these amazing oxfords. A strong red-lip for contrast, a pair of sexy sunglasses and an effortless bag to hold your on-the-go necessities, this look is for those of you who like spending their day out of a fashion editor’s closet.

TrimmingsAndLace For Nautica : Where Summer Never Ends

 photo 0K6A0655_D.jpg photo 0K6A0673_D.jpg photo 0K6A0642_D.jpg photo 0K6A0634_Dmw.jpg photo 0K6A0701_D.jpg photo 0K6A0636_D.jpg photo 0K6A0683_D.jpg photo 0K6A0700_D.jpg

A fashion genre that aptly gets described by a set of three colours that predominantly constitutes it is - Nautical. The geometric precision of stripes, checks and dots combined in a trio of whites, blues and reds, transcends you to the deep seas and to waters and lands where summer never ends. The emotions in the life of a sailor, the stories of valor, celebrations and adventures, the nostalgia of the sea is something an institution like Nautica lives up to. Their philosophy manifests itself in everything -  from their collections to their store décor. Which is why, when I was asked to style their S/S'15 collection as part of the #MyNautica campaign, it was a sentiment in itself. Confirming to it's very ideology, the collection is a vibrant mix of colours in polos and the quintessential stripes in tanksmaxis and dresses. What I personally loved in this collection was the experimentation in techniques and the overall modular appeal of the garment (Loved this and this). The collection confirms to the Nautica aesthetics of precision and uniformity in tailoring, while keeping the comfort factor intact.

For this look, I decided to romance the summer whites and added a vertical and horizontal contrast of stripes by way of the tank and the shirt. I added a tinge of red to the look via my lips and hair. Moschino-esque heavy metal and a textural contrast via the bag, I managed to pacify my longingness for the sea. Well, clothes are always a solution. Let's drink to that sailors!

TrimmingsAndLace For Klip.in : App Review

Klip GIF

Klip 2

The story of every fashion lover has this chapter. The one which started with clipping cuttings of fashion magazines and celebrity features in newspapers into folders and files, moved on to an array of folders on the desktop and perhaps progressed with book-marking and categorizing them for "long term reference". The fashion world today is a livewire. Fashion is evolving by the minute and your have hordes of options rising from the streets, high street brands and the social media itself, making themselves available to you at a click. The fashion lover too has grown and is constantly on the move. Bridging this vital gap and making 'fashion' available in real time is Klip.in with their newly launched Klip mobile app. I was lucky to be among the #FirstCircle of few chosen bloggers to test and experience this app prior its official launch.

I am someone who just like my shopping trips, likes my tech-usage to be easy, fuss-free and user-friendly. And this app, checks all boxes in that regard. The user is welcomed by an easy sign-in process. If you are an existing user at Klip.in you just need to fill in your details, otherwise you can choose to sign-in with your existing social profiles. Alternatively, you can create a fresh account which takes less than a minute, on the clock! Being a huge lover of minimalism, the other feature that instantly drew me to the app was its basic and clean interface. As you sign-in, you are taken to pick your category of choice – Men, Women, Home, Lifestyle – for you to explore and discover styles and trends under each. You can further narrow your choices and preferences based on the sub-sections provided under each category. Your picks and preferences will accordingly be reflected in your home feed, which by far is my favourite section in the app. Move away clicks and scrolling, you can access your home feed in easy and fun swipes which again makes the app very convenient and perfect to access whether you are catching up with your girls over coffee or are on the go in a cab. If this wasn’t enough, with the Klip mobile app you get an access to the current collections of over a hundred brands (Flipkart, Myntra, Jabong, Forever New, Koovs…to name a few), get a feeler of the latest trends, compare styles and prices before you make your final pick. And with all this, the cherry on the top is your personal profile. You can ‘klip’ your favourite pieces to your profile and keep them as reference or visit them later when you need to make your shopping decisions.

So, isn’t this a complete shopping experience taking a detour and coming to you how you would like it best. Don’t believe me? Here’s how you will – Download Klip.

And once you do, don’t forget to join me at Klip – TrimmingsAndLace. See you there!

TrimmingsAndLace For MaxFashions : Florals At Degree Nine

Shot By - HimShootz

With their hothouse hues and a magnitude of prints, MaxFashions has always been among my favourite stores. To picking up a complete outfit or adding elements as basic as a crisp white shirt to complete a look, Max always stands up to those fashion needs without burning a hole in your pocket. More often that not, we all attempt to create a utilitarian wardrobe that consists of pieces which we can wear everyday and include them in our day to day routine. I have always advocated in being money-wise when it comes to this and Max as a brand truly resonates this ideology, albeit stylishly. Earlier this week, I was invited to the Max stores for a preview of their Fall/Winter'14 collection. The collection is buzzing with bright colours and some interesting kitsch and geometric prints in knits, pullovers, jackets and coats. This being so ideal for the dull, foggy, no-sun days. I absolutely loved the floral and baroque print sweatshirts from the collection. One can easily mix them with prints or wear them with a basic pair of jeans, to let them hold their own and make a statement.

What caught my eye, however, among the panorama of prints and colours, was this dainty floral number. Less feminine than the summer floral bunch, sporting florals in winters always is a perspective to brighter, sunnier days (although, shooting at 9 degrees doesn't leave much space for thoughts like these). I picked up this number also to experiment with a certain amount of luxe and edginess that is usually associated with winter florals. Instead of jewellery, I accessorized with a tie to add a dash of colour and another layer in terms of styling. As I wasn't attempting to present an androgynous look, I balanced the effect with a pair of very vintage and à la french brooches.

This is a very simple and an easy look which can be worn in a multiple ways. You can opt to wear the dress on its own or layer it like I have. Instead of greys and blacks you can also add a bright pink blazer to the dress. Skip the stockings or add colour. Swap the boots for pumps or wedges. Belt the dress to structure your look. Add a faux collar or wear a collar necklace. The options are endless. Isn't that true for dressing anyway?

TrimmingsAndLace For The Luxe Café

Over the past few years, the idea of 'luxury' and how you and me perceive it has evolved. The Indian consumer rests in a sea of resources and opportunities, powered by an untameable zeal to experience the greatest. Luxury in goods and services is no longer confined to the affection of the privileged. It rather lies with all those who have the courage to look beyond the obvious and seek the intricate details of life. What better can be to experience the grandeur and exclusivity of luxury at a click? Answering our prayers is the recently launched The Luxe Café that's all set to become India's leading online luxury lifestyle magazine.

When I was asked to take a tour of this well researched and conceptualized portal, I couldn't really imagine the experience and burst of information I was in for. The Luxe Café is fashioned as a virtual salon for the purveyors of luxurious living and has a distinct approach to sharing information and elite lifestyle choices. Experienced writers, artists and design specialists have curated content on fashion, food, decor, travel, leisure, motoring, gadgets, personas and ideas for connoisseurs of fine living. The chosen industry experts are working together to engage personally with the consumer in an attempt to shatter the traditional notions associated with luxury and reinterpreting them for the truly passionate. Tapping on the greater brand awareness and reach of Indian citizens today, and a shift of the 'Luxe Consciousness' from the metros to Tier II and Tier III cities, The Luxe Café is directly engaging industry experts with the readers, helping them make informed consumer choices.

The Luxe Café as envisioned by Manisha Mayur Shekhar, editorial director and founder, will bring the India’s growing numbers of brand-conscious buyers and luxury-enthusiasts in close touch with all that is happening, that is new and that comes straight through the experts from the world of luxury. In her very own words, "If you have an eye towards all that is new, a breakthrough and straight from an expert, if you appreciate luxury as an expression of innate aesthetics, if knowing better means only that which comes from the best, then The Luxe Cafe` is your space to be. With our monthly bouquet of fresh stories and features, this e-zine aims to bring to fore our research and recognition of people, places and avenues of fine living, so each month has its own flavours, highlights, discoveries. The Luxe Café, therefore, is poised to become an essential companion to those who know not only the difference between chalk and cheese but also chalk and charcuterie."

I hope you all delve into this luxurious experience. Don't forget to catch them on FacebookTwitterPinterest and Google Plus.

Stories From That TextBook

One very distinct memory that I have and remember living it in the moment as well, is of myself getting lost in the pictorial representations of text-books back in school. The imagery of a quaint summer day, an old man walking on the road, a seller or a rickshaw puller resting under the tree, a kid rushing to buy an ice-cream from the street vendor in those quintessential shorts and collared shirt and a street dog breaking away from slumber to drink water by the road. Whenever we did stories visually represented and manifested like this, it always swept me away to this illusionary land. It perhaps more was the inquisitiveness and an answer to self or rather the kid in the city, that towns and cities like these do reside in the heart of the hinterland. Spare a moment to imagine, drift and live the life of these cities. Or spare more than a moment to venture out on a hot, dry day and I am sure sights like these won't be oblivion to the eye. Experiencing the tranquility, quietness and stillness of the city life is an experience in itself. And experiencing the tranquility, quietness and stillness of self in moments like these, is an awakening to savour.
My outfit symbolizes my thoughts. This breezy, cotton kurta from b:kind in the ideal shades of blue and white is a life to that summer dream. Easy on fit and carefree in structure, you can team it up with your favourite pair of jeans, trousers or shorts. A bright contrast in red, orange or fuchsia is all you'll need to strike a balance and sail through the day. As for me, I added colour via my lipstick and for accessories stuck to my current favourite bag from October. Further accentuating my love for statement pieces and staying true to all Indianess, I paired the look with these heavy Kundan earrings. To keep the subtle element of dressy intact, I finished the look with a pair of pointy gold flats.
Outfits, locations, pictures...what evokes your memory the most. I look forward to knowing about your stories. Leave your comments below, e-mail me, tweet or drop a comment on my Instagram. Let's share our stories and a day from our lives!
