TrimmingsAndLace For Chumbak : That World Of Colour

 photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-1-2.jpg photo 2015-12-02.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-9.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-32.jpg photo ezgif.com-video-to-gif.gif photo 2015-12-022.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-6.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-4.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-27.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-13.jpg

For any artist, I believe, eclecticism is a challenging side of the curve to be at. Your art must thrive in its exclusiveness but at the same time must resonate with the ideologies of your audience at large. For any artist to establish this reasoning as his identity is surely a feat. But to diversify and divulge and reinvent and yet remain grounded to the aesthetics is a sign of greatness. For me the husband-wife duo, the curators, the visionaries and the artists at Chumbak fit this definition like no other. Chumbak’s entrepreneurial journey that started five years ago has always been an inspiration to me. Mainly because, it isn’t any rags to riches story that fits the texts of a case study but a narration of how far your dreams and your belief in them can take you. It is a story of what passions are made of and how sometimes it’s all about that one plunge.

The same came this October when Chumbak ventured into the apparel segment with the launch of Collection One. Collection One is your entree into Chumbak’s world of design, colour and print. Not to miss, the quintessential dose of insanity that is associated with Chumbak. So expect a whole new take on space, ocean, Pixel Art and food, all manifested into a fashion line, that has been designed to start conversations that never end and even when they do they end in smiles.

Unlike most of my posts, I didn’t shoot this look with a prior brief or perspective in mind. My only agenda was to have fun at the shoot and celebrate the genre of outfits that I haven’t really worn before. The designs and prints have an inherent playfulness to them, which automatically gets infused into you. And that is pretty much what happened to me during the shoot. So there were twirls and pouts, jumps and misses, hair flips and virtual kisses, ankle twists and laughs and a leap into this new sea of fashion.

As a fashion blogger, stylist and someone who is genetically blessed with an average height, heels often are my rescue. However, like most of you, traditionally I am all in all a flats person. Eight out of ten times, if the occasion permits, you'll see me in flats. I head out for my shoots and meetings in flats with the heels making an appearance just before I step out of the car. There too, you would rarely find me in sandals or any open-toe flats. I am a complete loafers, moccasins and ballerina kind of girl and perhaps too definitive when it comes to my flats.

This is exactly how my meeting with the VAPH team started. VAPH as a brand specializes in leather and leather textures. But what's interesting is how they have transcended the boundaries of classic leather shoes and colour tones, to introduce variants in terms of colours and textures. In their beautifully designed lookbook you'll be lost in choice amidst some colourful loafers, oxfords, lace-ups, boots and sandals crafted in a combination of suede and treated leather. Don't forget to refer the style guide for some amazing style inspirations and tips. With over 30 years of experience in designing, sourcing and shoe construction, needless to say that their pieces are crafted with meticulous attention to detail and quality.

One glance at the collection and I knew that these Isabelle loafers belonged to me. However, dressing up everyday and slipping into the closest pair of flats that you find to styling this pair was somewhat of a challenge for me. The unbound utility of these loafers to run multiple errands during the day is unmatched, but through this post I wanted to depict how stylish they look when styled for an easy and relaxed day. My idea of the same was to spend it in shorts and this breezy off-shoulder top. Thankfully it had rained a couple of hours before we set out to shoot, and what was meant to be a shoot turned into a fun day spent at the park. Heels might be a woman's weapon to stance, poise and power but flats for me are symbolic of her innocence, the child inside her and her little ways of making the world around her joyous and beautiful. An hour into the shoot and a array of feelings...a pair of shoes can change lives!

This particular pair has become my go-to and the most dependable pair on my shoe rack presently. It's easy to slip on, comfortable and sturdy especially during the rains. Don't believe me? See me do Snapchat story to show you the obvious. You can add me - TrimmingsAndLace. And for all of you dying to shop, you can check out VAPH shoes on Flipkart, Myntra and Jabong.

A Shift Dress to fashion is what mindless television is to weekends. It's a no-brainer when it comes to styling, can be dressed up or dressed down and allows you to miss out on the accessories. All you need is a pair of your most comfortable heels (yes, sense the irony) or your oxfords/loafers (yes, in case you are lucky) and your world in your bag and you are good to run multiple errands during the day or step in and out of meetings. This pretty much has been my last week and the shift dresses of the closet have been my saviour. Also largely because, given the weather and the soaring humidity, there is nothing better, quick or comfortable that I can think of. Having been the fashion circuit's newest baby, the bucket bag has made a large space in my heart as well. I mean it's chic, ultra spacious and all you need to do is to be lazy and throw your stuff in. Now, who doesn't love that?

Fashion and style fanatics across the globe have never been this thankful. To be able to 'dress-up' and then swap stilettos for sneakers and yet remain in the domains of being stylish, is a trend revolution like no other. From the streets to the red carpet, there has been absolutely no stopping this trend. Further to see it being adorned in countless ways (read jeans, boyfriend jeans, skirts, dresses, suits, you name it) brings yet another unbridled thrill in its being. Which is why when I was received this pair of sneakers by AdidasOriginals, at the very first thought I was clueless and undecided whether to stick to my styling aesthetics or opt for a normcore or a minimalistic look. My underlying idea though was well defined. To create a look which highlights comfortable dressing without sacrificing style. Which is why, I chose to step completely outside my comfort zone, wore my dressy maxi, threw on this sweater dress as an added layer and left the sneakers to do the rest.

The fashion circuit is certainly rejoicing as the sportswear turns couture (take a clue). So before you label those track pants as 'gym alone', that sweatshirt as 'weekend night at home alone' or your favourite sneakers as 'for running alone', think again! But don't forget to let me know by commenting below, or on my Instagram or Twitter. I hope you liked the look!

TrimmingsAndLace For Swarovski : A Sparkle A Time

A woman and her love for jewellery can never really be summed up in words, let alone contained. From the time she watches her mother adorn her treasures to dreaming of dressing up in heirlooms. From the inherent consciousness of collecting and savouring her jewellery pieces to stopping at those large, inviting display windows...woman and her love for jewellery wasn't really meant to be put into words, let alone contained.

Earlier this month I collaborated with Swarovski to style a look for this party season. I have always been a huge fan and an admirer of Swarovski crystals and jewellery. The finesse with which a simple piece of glass is so beautifully maneuvered to create something this delicate, is a form of unmatched art and skill. To celebrate this association and the timeless Swarovski appeal, I knew I had to save this look for the last. When it came to my outfit, I went ahead with the classic bling. If you are someone who prefers a look that is comfortable, easy and an extention to your personal favourites, the best is to stick to the classics. Doing so, leaves room for experimentation in jewellery, accessories and make-up. And that's pretty much what I did with this look. You can wear these pieces on their own, layer them or mix them to create a balanced look. I am sure you'll agree when I say that they'll look beautiful and appealing in every way. To balance the modern silhouette of the dress and giving in to old world charm, I added elements like this faux fur cape (Gifted by my grandmother, but never worn. This is for her) and did my lips in classic red. For the eyes I tried the Hollywood glam winged-eye (similar).

Now for the good bit. I need no Swarovski, said no woman ever. This year has been so overwhelming for me, in more ways than one. I feel I can never thank any of you enough for the love and support you have given this little endeavour of mine. If you are the one who is a regular reader of my blog, the one who likes and comments regularly or the one who never does but also never fails to stop by, I express my sincerest gratitude. As a gesture and with a very special thank you to the wonderful Swarovski team, here I am to make the party season a little more memorable for you by letting one of you win THIS exquisite piece. Trust your mom to give you the best fashion advice for life. She can battle all the notch heads to be a visionary when it comes to trends, statements and come-backs. Case in point these culottes, which my mom insisted me to HAVE and since then have been lying shunned except for those lazy days at home. Skinny and ankle-cropped pants have held the court for years now, and though they will never go out of style, it’s time to welcome some drama with culottes.
Culottes are a mark of innovative design. Cropped, wide-legged and falling a little lower than the Bermuda shorts, culottes encompass these stylish elements and spell élan and comfort in one.

Casual, sporty, sleek or tailored, I personally feel that the demure of culottes call for sophisticated dressing. Also, the silhouette and an over-flow of fabric can seem a little intimidating. Hence, minor attention to details never harms. A tucked boxy-top, a well-fitted top or T-Shirt or even your perfect fit button-down is the best way to accentuate the structure of culottes. Since I wore this outfit to a celebratory brunch, a little show of skin suited the occasion. Unlike the last time, I teamed this outfit with heels as they not only help elongate your frame and render some balance to the look, but also define the mid-calf area better. Now who can possibly mind that?
With temperatures soaring I kept the tone of the look very monotone (and soothing if I may call it myself) with statement earrings, a printed clutch and a pop via the heels providing the adequate amount of colour and break.

However you may choose to wear them, I vouch that culottes are a summer staple. Besides, isn’t culottes a cool word to say? Your dependable fashion idol, breather for legs and a cool word…I hope the post has been worth a wait!
