A very warm hello to all of you. I hope you had a fabulous and enriching first week of 2014. As I start my year on the blog, I really feel I cannot thank you all enough for being a source of constant support and encouragement. Blogging about fashion and your tastes in style, may seem like a cake-walk but trust my contemporaries and me when we say that it is a demanding job to do. Nevertheless, there hasn't been a day when I have woken up not loving what I do and not wanting to do it over and over again. A big credit for that goes to you all. So thank you so very much. Here's to lots of work, lots of styling ideas, lots of interactions and to loving and living your dream. Cheers!

Do-It-Yourself : Two For An Experiment

I have always believed that if you are looking for fashion inspiration or any item that keeps you in sync with whats in trend, your haven is your own closet (or your mom's). While I was in progress of a closet shift and re-shift, thanks to the erratic weather up north, not only did I realize that soon the fashion world would be greeting bye to OXBLOOD (Yes in capitals), but I also saw 'something' hanging in there which had always been there and I had simply been oblivion to it. The 'something' in question was an oxblood lace salwar kameez, which hadn't really seen the light of the day in long. A little but bright in.my.head bulb just lit that very minute. Step 2 - Heading to the local tailor (How I crave to use the term darzi), getting the side slits sewed and length altered and here you have it - this oxblood lace dress! Isn't this one a quick D.I.Y and an interesting revamp/reform/recycle for your wardrobe? What do you think?
In addition to the trends I have (yes its winters still) been loving this Fall/Winter, I also adore how oxblood and wine stand together. The whole there and not there (contrast) vibe of these two colours helps you play with the textures. That's the reason why I chose to keep this look going in a one-tone palette. Also, for some one who loves her contrasts this was something new and experimental. Perhaps two for this post! Yes, tell me about it...

Shades Of Blue

As a young girl, I remember my mother dressing me up in a pair of yellow tights and a red velvet+wool sweater. This was (mind you) one of my special outfit worn at a family wedding. As far as I remember its post that I regained gained my fashion sensibilities and quit wearing tights.
That's until last year when I casually picked up these basic black tights to wear at home..and soon they became one of my best friends during winters. I won't dig into how comfortable one feels in tights...I am sure you all must be knowing that already. But I am happy that at this half of the circle my Tights-Fashion-Sensibilities turned for the better!!
P.S. My mom sensed color blocking back then...how cool is she??

Blue is one such color that has never really needed a 'come back' on the runways. In one way or the other its always been fashion's favorite silhouette. The Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 collections saw various avatars of blue. From the classic evening wears in one shade of blue to the textured versions and to the basic denims..blue can never not be THE TREND.
Different shades of blue always complement each other perfectly, so don't be afraid to mix the darker hues with the lighter one's. Adding contrasts to blue works wonder in breaking the expanse of color and most importantly shaping and structuring the outfit. I teamed my outfit with the classic, timeless contrast of black and added a bright pop of Orange.
