Jacquard Called Me Back

Summer dressing for me means treading the crossroads where fashion and comfort coincide. English print dresses, breezy cottons, flip-flops, wedges, minimal jewellery, nude nails and make-up, cut-offs and that old T-Shirt which has been worn to death, cross all boxes when it comes to my summer style. Personally, I feel any wardrobe is incomplete without the understated yet classic shirt dress. Ever since I ventured into designing, I realized that the basic cut of the shirt dress is something that largely defines my design sensibilities and hence also reflects in my everyday style. Collared, pleated, clinched the shirt dress spells easy, prim and dressy. Needless to say, a silhouette like this tops my list of summer dressing.
Much like such effortlessly stylish dresses, I have been sporting and loving jewellery that is simple, no-fuss and compliments outfits in a diverse range. If you have been following me on Instagram, you must be aware of my on-going project with Miss Flurrty. These gold bangles have become my everyday favourites and have been lying on my bed side, being a quick fix for meetings and shoots alike (check and here). Do you have any summer staples when it comes to clothes and jewellery? Don't forget to share it with me in the comments section below or tweet me at @TrimmingsNdLace.

Do-It-Yourself : Two For An Experiment

I have always believed that if you are looking for fashion inspiration or any item that keeps you in sync with whats in trend, your haven is your own closet (or your mom's). While I was in progress of a closet shift and re-shift, thanks to the erratic weather up north, not only did I realize that soon the fashion world would be greeting bye to OXBLOOD (Yes in capitals), but I also saw 'something' hanging in there which had always been there and I had simply been oblivion to it. The 'something' in question was an oxblood lace salwar kameez, which hadn't really seen the light of the day in long. A little but bright in.my.head bulb just lit that very minute. Step 2 - Heading to the local tailor (How I crave to use the term darzi), getting the side slits sewed and length altered and here you have it - this oxblood lace dress! Isn't this one a quick D.I.Y and an interesting revamp/reform/recycle for your wardrobe? What do you think?
In addition to the trends I have (yes its winters still) been loving this Fall/Winter, I also adore how oxblood and wine stand together. The whole there and not there (contrast) vibe of these two colours helps you play with the textures. That's the reason why I chose to keep this look going in a one-tone palette. Also, for some one who loves her contrasts this was something new and experimental. Perhaps two for this post! Yes, tell me about it...

Life & Me

Hello Lovelies!!

It seems I no longer need to shout from rooftops my love for stockings and how much of a winter staple they are for me.

That was my outfit, definitely intended to brighten a typical winter day. Yes, perhaps the amusement park visit with my four year old brother, the rides and endless doses of McFlurry and french fries (oooppsss it is OK to spoil yourself..I never proclaimed I was a celebrity *wink*) wasn't enough to make the day brighter!!

I teamed up my purple turtleneck sweater dress with orange stockings (Winter Colour-Blocking???) to create a very basic and bright look. Turtlenecks are back from an exile thanks to designers like Poebe Philo, Raf Simmons and Altuzarra and continue to uphold the charm of sophistication and chicness.

Wearing:

Sweater Dress from GAP
Stockings from Forever 21
Ballerina Flats from Macy's
Bag from Gucci
Vintage Trench - Its my mom's and roughly 25 years old :D
Orange turtleneck sweater (worn underneath) is too old to remember :p

P.S One of my readers recently wrote to me stating that what I call as 'stockings' should rightly be addressed as tights or pantyhose. Error regretted!!

Leaving you guys with some really interesting quotes I picked up from a rather popular Facebook page called Life is a Bitch Quotes. I found it quite late :(:(

From the archives - Tangy O

Hey everyone!! For my second post I have thought of archiving some of my looks from before. Since orange is the flavour of the season, I decided to show you guys how I wore the same.

Well this was a mid winter dress up..and my attempt to bring in some colour..:) I adore this mango dress..well not for its colour but its delicate falling neck detail with golden buttons :)

Dressing up for winters is fun..with the boots, trenches, mufflers..and all. I am lucky to be residing in the north so I get to enjoy the Indian winters to the fullest. Well this particular trench belongs to my mum and is about 15 years old :) It certainly commands vintage value now!! Also this outfit of mine wasn't minus the cocktail ring fever :) You can check that out below:

I would love to know your views on today's post!!
