In a very long time perhaps, penning a post (again) seemed liked a challenge. With the exploding real-time bomb a.k.a the social media you already know about the Spring/Summer'16 trends, must-haves, dos and don'ts. Is there any particular trend this outfit conveys? Lace, crop-tops, culottes...you get the clue. Should I talk about life post marriage? Do readers really have time for it? Should I create a 'virtual' zone for my wedding festivities? Or should I tell you about the projects I am flooded with with or how stressful March endings are supposed to be with all the tax returns. Should I interest you with projects in the pipeline or with selfies at the fashion week. Maybe, I can do a house-tour and delusion you guys with the fanciness of a blogger life. I can pitch in my wedding outfits, venues and jewellery too. Do I sound cynical?  Does the blogger life seem much of a fad? Maybe you can join me on Snapchat (@TrimmingsNdLace) to have a glimpse of mine. Subtle Marketing. Or maybe for now, we can just hope for India to beat Australia in Cricket tomorrow.

Cupid Colors

Color Blocking (here and here) was THE trend in 2011, but this very trend has chosen to stay over. Not that I would complain! I have done the Red and Fuchsia combination before...though subtly. But after having seen this bright and bold color combination strut the red carpets, in addition to world wide fashionistas adorning it, I too decided to follow the suit. We all have those days when we find ourselves stuck in a style rut. Since, way wild was on my mind for some time now I can safely say that playing with different and new color combinations is always a great way to liven up your wardrobe. Red and Fuchsia are considered as clashing colors but they are seated next to each other on the color wheel. Thus these, analogous colors work well together to create some fascinating and surprisingly chic looks.
If you follow me on Facebook and Twitter, you would know already my love for maxi-skirts this season. My first post for The Dressing Room series saw me wear one...and surely Maxi-Skirts too are insisting to stay over.

HhAaPpPpYy 2012

A fresh start...A new opportunity...A new dream...A new wish...
As the new year dawns, may it bring with it an abundance of wisdom, health and prosperity! Wishing you all an awesome 2012.
Keep blessing and loving TrimmingsAndLace ♥♥
Fashion 'wise'...I admit on being inclined towards colors a little more than monotones, but OK let's confess..wearing that bright, sunshine yellow is a tricky business. Perhaps that explains why this crochet, lamb wool wrap had been lying in my closet for quite some years now. Did I tell you its frill-y as well :)
I'll be well honest..This is my first attempt in donning this wrap in a slightly subtle manner. Yes the subtle is slight..c'mon who said core winters are meant to be a fashion bore :p

I know many of you might be pulling your hair out at the sight of those socks. I too am on an edge about them..but I believe in sensible fashion. It is freaking cold here and I can be a little selfish to let these poor babies be an eye sore than suffering from cold feet and that uncontrollable shivering :D

I had thought of complementing the yellow-navy blue combination with a hint of red. But settled for this green houndstooth patterned muffler instead :)
Are you guys too loving the houndstooth patterned outfits in Salvatore Ferragamo Fall Winter 2011 collection??

Wearing:

Yellow wrap from a local store in Dubai
Navy blue cardigan from Tommy Hilfiger
Muffler from Marks & Spencer
Pumps from Aldo
Jeans from Lycra

IN THE S.P.O.T.L.I.G.H.T

Hello people. How are we doing?
I hope that the past week has been great for you all..and I also hope that all my lovely readers in India have caught up on ROCKSTAR. I have seen the movie twice - back-to-back shows literally – and I absolutely loved it!!

Before penning this post I was just surfing the internet (read - reading your wonderful blogs, checking fashion sites, latest collections and of course online retail portals..long live ASOS) and repeatedly came across the term “Burberry Plaid.” This intrigued me to learn more about the different varieties of this forever - in - vogue fabric called PLAID, which is a winter synonym.

I am guessing many of you, like me, must have heard about these varieties..but just attempting to get into a little depth here..hope you guys enjoy this!!

But before that, here’s my Plaid outfit. It’s something I wore shopping with my parents, about a week back.
This outfit has been inspired by my ever so favourite – BLAIR WALDORF.

That's what the ever charming Blair wore:

I skipped the hat (quite obvious - imagine me walking in an exhibition with my parents and a hat) and carried a black bag instead of the red. I completed the look with this delicate neck-piece.

Wearing:

Plaid Skirt - Tailored
Crochet Top - Next (You can see me wearing the same here)
Wrap - Bershka Dubai (Catch me wearing it long here)
Bag - Elle
Stockings - Forever 21
Ballerina Flats - Local Store in Chandigarh
Neck-piece - Claire's

So, starting with the tutorial basics..what is plaid?

A plaid is a pattern consisting of crossed horizontal and vertical bands in two or more colors in woven cloth.

The fabric has the following types:
(Note the visible differences in each type, although the basic weave remains the checked pattern.)

1. Scottish Tartan

2. Gingham Check

 3. Burberry Plaid

4. Madras Check

Did you guys enjoy this plaid-play post? I would love to know your views :)

Neon Rush

Hello Dearies!!
How are you all? Well I have had a nomadic week..Yes NOMADIC in the literal sense. The reason for the same was that my house was being re-done. New shades on the walls, new interiors, new furniture, new settings..well a lot was going on..and the end result is indeed quite impressive :) Happy :D
It was a nomadic experience because the entire stuff of the to-be-touched room was one day shifted to the untouched room and then re-shifted to the room from where it was originally shifted the next day because it was the untouched room's turn to be touched???...the weird emulsion smell has done something to me!!

So, there wasn't much dressing that took place, however, amidst the entire series of activities that were taking place around me what caught my fancy were the shades of neon which in one form or the other the wonderful labourers wore.
I respect them to the core, they helped in making my house a HOME. Salute!!
And I proudly say the inspiration behind this post are those lovely people :)

Here is my Neon + Crochet look:

I wore black shorts with a Lime Neon tank and a crochet jacket. I wear crocodile skin textured gladiators on my feet and accessorized the entire look with wooden bangles and a wood like neck-piece!!

I quite enjoyed how this entire look came out when put together..especially the long crochet jacket over the shorts. My mother called it a beach look cause of my after shower hair :p

Have a closer look at my accessories:

Wearing: Black Shorts and Gladiators thrifted from Delhi, Tank Top Promod, The chunkier bangle and the neck-piece Aldo, remaining bangles thrifted from Delhi and Shimla :)

So does my look qualify to be a beach look? Would love to know from you guys!!
P.S. Do you remember how I wore crochet before??

TrimmingsAndLaceAndCrochet

A big hello to you all!! I hope everybody's having a great weekend :) and I assume that we all have done something very special for our mom's today since its Mother's Day.
All through my childhood and till date I have seen my grandmother craft some beautiful pieces using crochet be that various sorts of garments for me (and my play dolls) to table-cloths and napkins. Crochet is a fine art of creating fabric from yarn using a crochet hook and trust you me that it takes years to master it. Well my grandmother has certainly done so and can any day give the marketers a run for their money :):)
So, yesterday when I came across this show on TV that stated that crochet is a big trend this spring-summer, I jumped on to do a post on it...and some where I thought I'll pay a tribute to this beautiful art and to my lovely grandmother. Lots of love!!

Coming to how I wore crochet..well it was done in a very sober way..cause I wanted to let the crochet top do the talking :)

I added colour to the outfit by wearing these sea green ballerina's (you can see how I wore this colour here) and a cocktail ring plus earings of the similar shade.

I wore a lace corset underneath and carried a tote bag. The bag's got beautiful trimmings in pink and is neatly panelled :)

Wearing:
Crochet top from Next
Tote Bag Victoria's Secret (gift :) )
Ballerina flats H and M Dubai
Earings Claire's Dubai
Bracelets Aldo Dubai
Cocktail ring Thrifted (Delhi)

I leave you all with how crochet is available in various forms these days across a few stores namely Forever 21, Zara and Vero Moda.

You can see the same here, here and here. Happy Shopping :)
