TrimmingsAndLace For Fervour : Complexity Amidst Simplicity

 photo _AAS1489.jpg photo _AAS1536.jpg photo _AAS1541.jpg photo _AAS1462.jpg photo _AAS1552.jpg photo _AAS1553.jpg photo _AAS1451.jpg photo _AAS1492.jpg photo _AAS1490.jpg photo _AAS1471.jpg photo _AAS1460.jpg

In an environment where everything - from societies in general to industries in particular -  is a live-wire and is constantly evolving, the complexity is in the simplicity. Fashion as a genre is expanding exponentially and each day has a newer dimension to adopt and follow. The challenge herein remains to perfect the classic and better the simple. Something as timeless as a black and white outfit can have multiple layers when it comes to styling and representation. That basically was my challenge, when this gorgeously ruffled Dsquared2 blouse was sent to me by the wonderful team at Fervour. Fervour is a Bangalore based luxury house that shelves and retails a number of luxury brands - from Dsquared2 to Marc Jacobs, from Nina Ricci to Iceberg - all under one roof. For the longest time ever, the Indian connect with these luxury brands has rested in the hands of holiday travels and visiting relatives. Thankfully, with houses like Fervour, luxury indeed is at our doorsteps. Not to miss mentioning, all apparels and accessories retailed are one hundred percent originals.

On receiving this top, my reflex response was that how difficult can it be to style a white top. A printed skirt or a pair of shorts with a bright blazer, anything would work. But once I began playing with these ideas in my dressing room, I realized that the challenge herein lied in keeping the look simple and letting the structure and details of the blouse speak for themselves. Which is why, the entire concept of this post is positioned to reflect a play of textures than merely a styling endeavour. These sandals and cuff, I feel, added another dimension to the entire look and incorporated a sense of directional contrast to the look. Finally, not to let go colour completely, I added the mini Dsquared2 cross-body bag from Fervour again.

Undeniably, the charm of getting dressed for a wedding is unparalleled. Even though there can be times when your presence at every wedding of the season becomes necessary which in turn makes dressing up a chore, largely the whole fanciness around a wedding and dressing up for the same remains...well fancy. However, there is a harshly subtle reality to the whole wedding dressing scenario. The reality states that dressing up is always easy and weddings are always fun when they belong to someone else. Having been the bride's sister a year ago and the bride-to-be myself, I can assure you that wedding planning isn't as glamorous as it seems to be or can be as organized as the Pinterest time tables prescribe. Work-out wears become OOTD and missed meals become the order of the day. Nonetheless, each moment of it all is overwhelming and divine. I feel truly blessed to be at this stage of my life and am certainly looking forward to all that is to come. And I shall surely see you around!

TrimmingsAndLace For Chumbak : That World Of Colour

 photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-1-2.jpg photo 2015-12-02.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-9.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-32.jpg photo ezgif.com-video-to-gif.gif photo 2015-12-022.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-6.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-4.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-27.jpg photo TrimmingsandLace_20.11.2015-13.jpg

For any artist, I believe, eclecticism is a challenging side of the curve to be at. Your art must thrive in its exclusiveness but at the same time must resonate with the ideologies of your audience at large. For any artist to establish this reasoning as his identity is surely a feat. But to diversify and divulge and reinvent and yet remain grounded to the aesthetics is a sign of greatness. For me the husband-wife duo, the curators, the visionaries and the artists at Chumbak fit this definition like no other. Chumbak’s entrepreneurial journey that started five years ago has always been an inspiration to me. Mainly because, it isn’t any rags to riches story that fits the texts of a case study but a narration of how far your dreams and your belief in them can take you. It is a story of what passions are made of and how sometimes it’s all about that one plunge.

The same came this October when Chumbak ventured into the apparel segment with the launch of Collection One. Collection One is your entree into Chumbak’s world of design, colour and print. Not to miss, the quintessential dose of insanity that is associated with Chumbak. So expect a whole new take on space, ocean, Pixel Art and food, all manifested into a fashion line, that has been designed to start conversations that never end and even when they do they end in smiles.

Unlike most of my posts, I didn’t shoot this look with a prior brief or perspective in mind. My only agenda was to have fun at the shoot and celebrate the genre of outfits that I haven’t really worn before. The designs and prints have an inherent playfulness to them, which automatically gets infused into you. And that is pretty much what happened to me during the shoot. So there were twirls and pouts, jumps and misses, hair flips and virtual kisses, ankle twists and laughs and a leap into this new sea of fashion.

TrimmingsAndLace For Vajor : Once Upon A Princess

 photo _MG_8868.jpg photo _MG_8872.jpg photo _MG_9016.jpg photo _MG_8920.jpg photo 2015-11-24.jpg photo _MG_8873.jpg photo _MG_8927.jpg photo _MG_8895.jpg photo _MG_8997.jpg photo _MG_8972.jpg

This remains my favourite look from the Vajor series because it gave me a chance to exhibit my inner Dolce and Gabbana girl. I absolutely love the gold tones in this outfit which so gracefully reflect the setting golden light of Fall. A textured skirt and a stylishly structured top calls for smidgen yet impactful styling. This look is perfect for all those card parties you'll be hosting and attending. Add on a pair of statement earrings or a neck-piece or a headband like me if you reckon, and you are bound to make many heads turn. I am sure you've experimented and explored multiple dressing options when it comes to festive dinners and parties - from completely Indian to completely western - a look like this stylishly sits in between and is a winner in all respects. We know that during this period, your routine gets happily hectic. With all the running about, it can be difficult saving those feet for the dance floor. Which is why, I finished the look with those gorgeous wedges that are extremely comfortable and give the outfit the proportions it demands without making it look bulky.

Especially during Diwali, when the time comes for action, the last thing you want is to worry about the multiple elements in your look. Which is why an outfit that speaks for itself is ideal. It lets all the fashion trends do the talking while you head-out for the hustle, bustle and bang and to life in its complete glory.

TrimmingsAndLace For Vajor : Bringing It Together

 photo _MG_8855.jpg photo _MG_8793.jpg photo _MG_8685.jpg photo _MG_8815.jpg photo _MG_8828.jpg photo _MG_8695.jpg photo _MG_8799.jpg photo _MG_8735.jpg

Among the many moments in life, when adrenaline rush thrives and the monotony of life comprises itself in a time frame ever so characteristic and dynamic, is the "festive season". As fashion enthusiasts we know there are seasons and there are trends, but nothing beats that surreal feeling when there is a new trend in the shape of a new day, each day. From much awaited get-togethers with family to endless conversations till the wee hours of the morning. From card parties with friends to all those exciting food menus. From the absolutely necessary shopping trips to planning for all the upcoming shaadis. The festive season is a bountiful of moments and occasions and definitely calls for special outfits for each. So as you chalk out your schedules, your dressing woes rest with the amazing fashion house that Vajor is. I've associated with team Vajor to curate for you guys three looks, from the The Great Festive Collection and their Exclusive Limited Edition, which can be styled in multiple ways and can be taken from day to night with minimal effort. I am thrilled and super excited to bring these to you.

Look 1 - My endeavour while creating this look was to personify how I dress-up during this season. Though the inclination remains to adorn Indian, the festive season sets the perfect backdrop to try more contemporary silhouettes. For my first look, I styled this modish version of the Indian Kurta. I absolutely love the print on it and I feel it is a statement in its own right. To complement the same, I added a bindi in a strong mustard to bring all the colours together and to reflect a contrast in Indian and contemporary tones. For me this outfit is a reflection of the onset of the festivities, a calm and composed start for all the extravagance that follows this season. I recommend this outfit for the day when you are attending guests, having luncheons or for pujas. For the night, I would like to style this outfit with my favourite pair of stilettos, statement earrings and deck up my hair with some marigold or jasmine flowers.

TrimmingsAndLace For Lifestyle : Almost Fall

Shot By - Daas Media Works

One of the many things I missed at the onset of my blogging career was events and blogger meet-ups which gave a chance to bloggers to connect with their audience in person. Luckily, my wish wasn't kept hanging for long with the Lifestyle Style Circle event coming to Chandigarh. Like most moments in our life, when this moment actually came I was left anxious and cold-in-the-feet to say the least. From outfit fittings to media interactions, to seeing stand-ies of self to announcements in the stores and to finally meeting so many of you, these moments will remain etched in my memory to perfection and are utmost surreal. From the bottom of my heart I take this chance to thank each one of you for making this experience so memorable and every ounce of hard work put into this journey truly worth it. You all are wonderful and inspiring and beautiful. Also, many thanks to the Lifestyle team - from the event managers, media managers, store managers to the ground staff - for being on their feet throughout the event making sure, every minute of it, that we live our dream. Thank you!

The Style Circle series was basically a presentation of Lifestyle's collection for Autumn/Winter 2015. The collection is a brilliant concoction of some timeless prints and classics like Ikats, denims, bold winter florals, aztec prints and boho silhouettes. For the main event, my outfit was a chic sequinned dress which I paired with a cheery coral blazer (both from CODE) and turquoise earrings for contrast (See look).

For this main feature story, I decided to pick pieces which the collection boasted of. No other garment makes itself so deliciously wearable and is also as uniquely reflective of personal style like denim. Denim is timeless and season-less and frankly something we cannot imagine our closets without. The designers this Spring 2015, presented denim in various iterations - from the perfect-for-all jeans to overalls, from culottes to shirt-dresses - and it seems to have transcended into Fall with perfect ease. For the base element of my look, I picked this denim dress because it spelled comfort, ease and a little surprise the minute my eyes caught it. I also felt that it is an absolute must-have for the closet because it can be taken from casual to uber glamorous and is an option that will remain safe nonetheless. I chose to complement this dress and introduce the quintessential Fall layering, with another gorgeous piece from the collection i.e. this aztec print, fringed long vest. I strongly believe that a complete closet is the one which includes statement pieces that can be styled with almost anything, and this vest/cardigan checks all boxes for me. To structure the entire look I clinched my waist with a contrast belt. Further to extend the boho element of this entire collection, I added a print contrast and finished the look with my ever-so-favourite leopard pumps (here).

For my accessories, I wanted to go a bit old school and in tune with the denim fashion of the 50s. Hence, a rush of gold, pearls and red followed with more of the fringe from the bag. Thanks to Lifestyle I am ready to welcome Fall with aplomb.

Don't forget to check out the stores and pick up these pieces and style them as per your palette. And when you, don't forget to share it with us on Twitter - @Lifestyle_Store@TrimmingsNdLace or Instagram - @lifestylestores@trimmingsandlace.
