Fashion Notes And The Crazy Ones

The predominant facet of fashion is a trend. A trend that persists, goes back, gets recycled and revamped only to resurface with vengeance. For me, the biggest trend has always been to invent new tastes, move out of my comfort zone and tread areas that satisfy my fashion longing for discoveries and experiences. It’s that place where I can mix tastes and colours, prints and accessories and simply not feel nervous and have fun at a shoot.

And thankfully, this milestone in my TrimmingsAndLace journey came as I got this delightful opportunity to collaborate with the magic box of fun, colour and creative insanity – The Quirk Box. The Quirk Box pieces have a quintessential appeal that defines bright, quirk, youthful fashion.  As they rightly state that Quirk Box is a roller coaster ride over a colourful rainbow full of pop, kitschy, loud, yummy, tangy lifestyle products with a load of attitude and spunk.

Drawing inspiration from their philosophy and slipping into the recently launched ‘Stuck With Stupid’ vest, I ditched the minimalistic and monotone-ish fashion notions I had been abiding to, to simply have fun and let loose the child in me. I decided to accentuate the colours and artwork of the vest by pairing it with this cobalt skirt from The TrimmingsAndLace Collection. Further, to allow the quirky print and the colours to go overboard, I decided to add elements in white to let the pieces shine through unperturbed.

The idea behind this outfit resonates with that of the ‘Stuck With Stupid’ vest. ‘Stuck With Stupid’ is about that person in your life with whom you can be silly with, the one you can laugh till you cry, the one you can be crazy with, the one who you fight with but also love the most, the one who is an inseparable part of your life. We all have that one person be that our sibling, best friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, spouse, parent or we ourselves. ‘Stuck With Stupid’ is all about celebrating that quirkiness in your relationships and life.

On that note, here’s to all those who make our lives valuable, cherishable, crazy and fun. Don’t forget to tell me about your special ones in the comment section below.

The “green is good” philosophy has been growing over decades. Business houses and consumers have been rightfully endorsing the same with aplomb. And why not, this philosophy is a manifestation of the mindset that we are stewards and not just users of the planet, its people and its resources.  Also, the philosophy of going green and organic goes beyond environmentalism. It embraces the ethics of helping other people live sustainable lives.

For me, embracing organic fashion is not merely a point of view but an intelligent, cool statement as well. Riding the same frequency is another fashionable and stylish initiative – SAMTANA.
Samtana offers you 100% organic cotton T-Shirts, that go beyond the regular names draped across the chests. Samtana embodies a community of freelance artists from across the globe who create amazing and unique ‘wearable art’ for you to proudly wear and flaunt. Didn’t I tell you going green is cool?

So, without much adieu here’s what you need to do to win this kitsch T-Shirt and some whooping shopping discounts courtesy Samtana.

Talking Obsessions : Mint

Do you agree that colour fixation obsession exists? If you have been a TrimmingsAndLace regular you should be able to answer that for me. For those of us who've met recently, let me answer that for you. MINT - This flirty shade of green and turquoise broke the shackles of outdated, blasé bathroom tiles and witnessed a rip-roaring resurgence last year. The blog saw me embracing the colour in full power and sharing style ideas to wear it with aplomb here. This cool shade is soft and neutral, but still the perfect sweet staple to have in your wardrobe. Taking inspiration from some delectable macaroons and creamy sorbets I went in for a candy contrast with mint here. For a transition into Fall, I thought of allowing the spunk hiding in the maybe.I.exist little corner of me to come out and take the center stage. I paired mint with a sheer blouse and inaugurated the season's drama here.
What's next? Well, post this monotone, one-colour look, I am feeling inspired by Monique Lhuillier Fall 2013 runway. Emerald green is the crowned jewel this year and I am loving the idea of pairing the regal shade with cool mint. So, does colour obsession exists? For now, I am taking it as a YES!
