Denim On Denim

Well..I shall be keeping this post short and crisp. That's because the more I communicate the closer I feel I will be to fall off the EDGE. Edge (read jitters) in terms of posting this outfit. The last I was this nervous anxious was when my High School (Standard 12, Boards) result was to be declared. For all those who wish to say "Ohhhh cmon the outfit looks perfect/good/fine" I'll like to tell you all that when I tried this outfit it looked good. When I wore this outfit it looked good. When I saw people noticing this outfit I was sure it looked good. And when I saw this outfit in pictures, I thought all throughout I looked stumpy.
My blogger instinct says, "Girl you have a reputation to maintain."  All instincts other than those of keeping up that "status" say, "Make mistakes and get better!!"

P.S If you might as well wonder, I topped my High School!!

New Found Love

I am stuck at believing that much like me you too chalk out your outfits before-hand. Indeed, I am someone who would decide on the what, when, where and how of an outfit at least two days before the 'scheduled event.' The very same happened with this outfit too. Except that whenever I tried it, I felt that the skirt was a little too huge for me or just wasn’t the right length. Until, the very I.have.nothing.to.wear moment dawned on me and this was the only tried and tested option available.

On finally wearing it, needless to say I fell in love with Mad Men again and was reminded of the 50’s, when full skirts epitomized fashion undergoing a ‘power’ revolution. What I came to love the most about Midi Skirts is that they are friendly enough to be molded into a classic symbol of femininity (Tip: A low hair bun  would perfectly complement this outfit. However, I choose to do my hair in a sleek pony-tail) as well as perfect to transform you into a retro chick.

Wearing:

Shirt - Weekender
Midi Skirt - Thrifted (Delhi)
Pumps - Local Store (Chandigarh)
Bag - Nine West
Statement Necklace - TrimmingsAndLace
Bracelets - Aldo plus Gifted

Teal Trousers

How good/important is it to keep the 'outfit-variety' going on, on the blog? This is something that held me back for one.complete.day as my mind battled to decide that should I post what you would like (in terms of variety) or what I would like. Politically correct - I'll post what I had planned to with the hope that you shall like it too.

So if you are following me on Facebook (which by the way you should kindly do) you must be familiar to my raving and love for the so called "TEAL TROUSERS." Trousers were a rage on the Autumn/Winter 2011-2012 fashion runways. Be those from luxury brands like Emilio Pucci (this collection was my personal favorite), Hermes, Jason Wu, Jean Paul Gaultier or high-street brands like ZARA, Mango, Tommy Hilfiger or DKNY you could find them every where.

The "Teal Trousers" in question were an Autumn buy too. I wore them to the Indian Grand Prix. Sadly, they are a little too late for their debut!!

Wearing:

Teal Trousers - TrimmingsAndLace
Top - ZARA
Statement Necklace - Claire's
Ring - Forever 21
Peep-Toes - Local Store (Chandigarh)

P.S TrimmingsAndLace is the label for all self-designed and tailored pieces.

Jumping back to the 'variety concerns's I had a feeling that my blog was becoming trousers-full. Thus, a round up of all my trousers posts..See Variety?? (OK two words - Trousers and Variety off my vocab from some days now!!)

Black & White

There are some outfits that never really scream 'OUTFIT POST'. But when you happen to wear them over and over again somewhere they do become special. That's the case with this outfit too. In my mind I definitely have worn this outfit about 4 times last year. The first time I went the classic way by wearing it with pearls and nude peep-toes since I was wearing it for a formal academic interaction. The second time I skipped the accessories and wore black flats since I was visiting the doctor.

The third was with gold accessories during of the pre-Diwali fervor. And lastly, I remember adding red to the entire scheme. And this time I go Part-Boho for you.
1 OUTFIT = 5 WAYS..I am climbing the stylist ladder..What do you think??
Spare me for an overdose of photographs..I couldn't prioritize..or call me LAZY :p

Now Showing...THE DRESSING ROOM

I cannot classify this as an exclusive trait or habit. Nor can I put my words in a complete cliché. But I do live and dream 'outfits.' They are my best friends in the true sense of the word. From the little girl I was till today...I have spent some very precious moments in my Dressing Room. These moments are my capsules of glory, achievement, innovation, self-expression, self-realization, the pride of being ME and the dream of being SOMEONE the world looks up too (Stepping out of that sparkling black car and waving to a sea of people waiting to catch a glimpse of me and ofcourse wishing to know "Who Am I wearing?"..to be exact :P).

So, today on TrimmingsAndLace I am introducing a new series in the domain of personal style outfits - THE DRESSING ROOM. The Dressing Room shall include fantasy outfits – describe them as pieces wanting a chance to be adorned as ‘outfits’.
Although a long way to go before they are incorporated in my everyday style…but then aren’t DREAMS THE SEEDLINGS OF REALITY??

This is my maiden outfit for THE DRESSING ROOM series. I was very active in dramatics back in High-School. One of my favorite plays, which I got a chance to be a part of was titled 'ANTIGONE'. It was a Greek play on the life of a warrior princess - which by the way was me. This outfit  is my little cheer to that ANTIGONE. And a reminder to self that if things were in my hand I would have worn this and not that super shiny, Satin gown. No wonder school auditoriums never require reflectors.

Something called 'POWER DRESSING'

Hello Readers :)

Now, for all those of you who don't know (I guess I do not mention it much ????) I have a work-from-home job. Such a 'work' scenario definitely comes with its share of pros and cons. Amidst many, one such pro is that I save my 2-3 'dressing hours' in doing something new, exciting and creative each day. Amidst many, one such con is that I don't get to 'dress up' each day. (Thus no daily posts :p) Anyway, I was reminded of another related con..which being that if I don't get to dress up, I also miss out on seeing how people are dressed for work.

Having said that, I feel people somewhat construe the meaning of formal/power dressing and are scared to experiment. I say so because back in my B School I used to get not-so-friendly (read weird, shocked) glances if I wore a pencil skirt for a presentation or pinned a brooch to my blazer or wore a scarf as a cravat. Style as they say..isn't everyone's cup of tea!!
But YES not to miss - Corporate dressing does mean dressing up in formals but one should always opt for a perfect fit. Like, a pair of well fitted trousers are an investment which you wouldn't regret. The trousers I wear for this post were a part of my college uniform. As boring as my uniform was, these trousers have always given me ideas to create chic outfits.

This outfit is about a fortnight old when it was a little chilly. Thus this light cardigan.

Wearing:
Trousers - TrimmingsAndLace
Top - From a boutique (Dubai)
Cardigan - From a boutique (Dubai)
Belt - Forever 21
Peep-Toes - Local Store (Chandigarh)
Watch - Levis
Bangle - Thrifted

With an embellished top and an embellished cardigan, you wont blame me for missing out on accessories.

Remember my 'work' outfits from here and here
